New York Fashion Week, Spring 2009: Marchesa

For us red carpet junkies, ahem, Marchesa is always a pleasure. The gorgeous herself Georgina Chapman churned out an opulent collection of both party frocks and dramatic gowns. With sometime Indian undertones via gold embellishments and embroidery, opulent frills, dramatic ruffles and origami folds provided glorious eye candy. A lace LBD was perfection for attendee PYT Amanda Bynes, while I'm sure the gilded gold draped gown made Rachel Zoe "die." The season's belt, the obi, even made an appearance on a sexy little black number. Exquisite.

Hideous models. Seriously, like Gia in her last days.

Too bad the model's atrocious, underfed posture ruins the dress.

I love Marchesa. I love Georgina Chapmin, but she takes credit for everything, when it's her and her "best friend" (See, I don't even know her name) who design the clothes together. Just because she's the pretty one and is married to Harvey Weinstein doesn't make it fair that she takes credit for all the gorgeous dresses. On another note, is the last dress (The sheer Middle Eastern Kaftan-like dress) from this season. I saw Georgina wearing it in a photo shoot for British Vogue back in last December. It can't be new - or she either designed it for herself and got a lot of compliments and decided to sell it. Anyway, the last dress doesn't even go with this season's designs. Besides, weren't the Indian beading inspired dresses from Fall/Winter 2007?
