On Our Radar: Neiman Marcus On the Cusp

Neimans has been searching for a way to attract shoppers in their 20s and 30s without alienating their core clients in their 50s - and they think Cusp stores are their answer. Cusp boutiques have already been opened in L.A., D.C., and McLean, VA - one more comes to Chicago in August. The Cusp stores offer short dresses, designer jeans, T-shirts, and other casual clothes, all with lower prices than you would see on a shopping trip to Neimans.

Right now, the boutiques are marketed almost entirely online at Blog on the Cusp, which is why you probably haven't heard of them - I hadn't! Tentative plans for online shopping are currently being made, but this is exciting news, because I love Neiman's contemporary department but too often it's out of my price range!

Not a Neiman's fan, but will check Cusp out if they open in Houston.

I'm repeating what others have said, but Cusp is very expensive. They carry premium jeans and dresses that are anywhere from $200 to $500. It's nothing like BP and basically is Neimans edited for a younger, hipper customer. Looks at shopbop's site and you'll get an idea of what they carry.

Sounds like a fun place to shop when Neiman's is out of my budget!

I have been to all three of the CUSP stores..i love them..but ..they dont seem any less expensive than NM..but..you can use your NM credit card there...also of note..when they first opened..the logo is a little funny and we misread it as "C-cups" so now thats how we refer to em..lol.. long live c cups! xoxo

It's definitely NOT like BP...maybe more like Planet Blue. They have a great selection of dresses and they take Visa & Mastercard (unlike NM!).

I just visited their site and it sounds great -- they have cute promotions like b-day parties when the astrological sign changes (gemini this time). They also have make-up parties where you can get complimentary manicures. Hope they expand soon! Btw, it seems that styles/price range is like the Nordstrom contemporary section -- not the BP section.

I have been to the McLean Cusp and it's not any cheaper than Nieman's. Great stuff though.

I just went shopping at Neiman Marcus in Charlotte this Saturday and bought a great pair of cream patent flats with skull cut-outs on the toes. The sales lady said she was wondering who'd buy them because they seemed pretty young for their average shopper. I don't even know many 25-year-olds who'd spend $400 on skull shoes... except me. ha. I love them!

I love Neiman's but that's because I'm a Texas girl. I hope they open one here in Dallas!

omg! this is so great! I'm so happy that you posted this! It's so true too! The only person that EVER wants to go to Neiman's with me is my grandma. She is a Neiman's junkie and converted me when i was a mere child. haha. This really is the coolest post ever!
