It may have snowed during the first week of February on the East Coast, but that didn't stop the hoards of fashion editors and buyers from leaning toward Spring as they packed their bags for New York Fashion Week. There to preview Fall '17 trends, we tapped our very own fashion director, Hannah Weil McKinley, to see what sartorial surprises she had in her suitcase. Up ahead, we have her five best looks from NYFW, plus some notes from her about how the weather influenced her week.

What she wore: "The first official day kicked off with a blizzard and plenty of shows. This knit Opening Ceremony dress ($475) was perfect for making a statement while staying cozy and running to presentations."

What she wore: "A full day of shows and meetings requires a polished look that comes with easy-on-the-feet shoes. Fortunately, sneakers look good with everything — and adding them to a silky Vince slip and See by Chloe tunic ($360) gives the look a daytime feel that's pulled together without trying too hard. I finished the look with BaubleBar earrings ($45)."

What she wore: "For a more casual day of shows, I always gravitate toward jeans and a top with personality, like this cutout one from Tibi ($450). Then, throw on whatever layer you want on top (I'm carrying a Madewell jacket ($498)), dress it up with teardrop earrings ($28), and add practical Gucci loafers ($595) that come with some wow factor. This is my weekend show uniform."

What she wore: "My favorite look for the week comes with just enough print and detail to make it stand out but still be totally functional. That's the name of the game at Fashion Week. This floral Vince slip dress ($325) is easy to layer over a thin sweater ($310) while the playful earrings ($48) add flair to anything you put on."

What she wore: "Romantic necklines and frills are a huge trend for Spring. I wanted to look forward to the season but had to be mindful of the weather. This Iro dress ($650) and Madewell jacket ($498) were the perfect way to do that. It's also a look I could wear for a day of shows, then out to parties. Day-to-night dressing is key at Fashion Week."
