It's hard not to make the inevitable joke about being a fast woman when you are the daughter of Bernie Ecclestone the CEO of Formula One but Petra Ecclestone seems to be avoiding the that fate. Or at least she has a publicist that is very good at turning us towards that story by highlighting Petra's menswear line Form in a Telegraph fashion profile.
Inspired by (and funded we might add) by the Formula One aesthetic, Form does tend towards the sleek and engineered but thanks to a collaboration with Edward Sexton the line is kept safely away from what could have almost surely been tinges of Eurotrash absurdity. Sexton, the partner of Tommy Nutter, knows a thing or two about making classics contemporary thanks to his revolutionary work at Nutters of Saville Row updating the bespoke tradition for an entirely new generation.
"I have collaborated with Edward Sexton, a Saville Row legend, to realize the Form designs which combine traditional tailoring and a modern aesthetic. Needless to say the tailoring is faultless. His superb cutting skills complement the body conscious designs and help create the dramatic silhouette that has become Form's signature."
We admit to being suitably impressed by the line but more intrigued by the possibility that should Form succeed Petra will inevitably want to branch into womenswear. You see Edward Sexton did all of the suiting for Stella McCartney's first collection at Chloé
