Which Look Is More Wearable? Denim-on-Denim vs. the Printed Suit

Remember the days when double denim was a double don't (and we're not just talking about Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears's denim styles)? Now the denim-on-denim popularized by Jenna Lyons's styling is a far cry from the Canadian tuxedo. Sure, we got the denim-on-denim looks first on the 2010 runways, like those of Chloé and Ralph Lauren, but as with most trends, it took a few mass retailers like Gap and J.Crew to back the styles, along with a handful of celebrities, like Kate Bosworth and Kate Moss, to really make it a trend. Fast-forward to almost three years later, and the look has transitioned from trendy to closet staple and remained a mainstay in Madewell's style book with Solange Knowles. With the runways this season giving us a new double duo — this time in print — we couldn't help but draw a few comparisons and wonder which head-to-toe play is more wearable.

Peter Som, Cynthia Rowley, and Prabal Gurung were among the first designers to pioneer the printed suit trend for Spring '12, while Miu Miu perpetuated the trend for Fall '12, and Roberto Cavalli, Suno, and DVF carried it through Resort and Spring '13. Now we're seeing it really take off with celebrities outfitting the look
