Riccardo Tisci Takes Givenchy Fall 2009 Couture to the Middle East

Jul 7 2009 - 11:09am

>> Backstage at Givenchy [1] today, a sign read [2]: "No girls on the runway if they haven't eaten before." The show ran [3] over an hour late, was in a hard-to-reach location, and guests froze [4] in the outside venue, but they were allayed by Riccardo Tisci's homage [5] to the Middle East, complete with [6] live musicians playing [7] karkabou. "I dream of Riccardo's genie!" Joe Zee exclaimed [8].

Tisci not only attracted editors but fellow designers: Pucci [9]'s Peter Dundas joined [10] Christian Lacroix [11] in the show's front row. And all the models had [12] their hair dyed black especially for the occasion — which was apparently quite impressionable [13] on Lara Stone; Iris Strubegger debuted a new crop and newcomer Antonella Graef opened [14] the show.
