Step Inside Rihanna's Fashion Week Show
It's a small percentage of Fashion Week presentations that attract industry vets, top models, celebs, and other designers. But that was the crowd that came to see Rihanna debut her Fall '16 FENTY collaboration with Puma on Friday night in downtown Manhattan. I walked in to find Anna Wintour sitting comfortably front row, while Jeremy Scott sat a section over. Naomi Campbell made a fashionably late entrance only moments before the lights went up on the moody, mirrored catwalk.
As for the clothes themselves, Rihanna presented a '90s-Goth take on athleisure, complete with chokers, breakaway pants, and heeled high-tops. To finish, Gigi Hadid led the finale, Rihanna took a bow in a fur coat (and no pants), and then cater waiters served champagne to everyone. Read on to take in the night, one standout moment at a time.
Rihanna Checked In Pre-Show
She channeled the same '90s vibe from her collection.
She Posed Ahead of the Show
Working a choker and flatforms, like a '90s pro.
But She Closed the Show in a Totally Different Look
She bundled up on top, no pants on bottom.
Naomi Campbell Sat Front Row
She was fashionably late — as soon as she sat, the lights went down and the runway opened.
The Set Was Moody and Mirrored
The Looks Were Goth Meets Athleisure
The collection walked the line between sportswear and punk-goth.
Looks Were Complete With Sweatband Chokers
And Serious Goth Makeup and Jewels
The Shoes Were a Heeled Riff on High Tops
There Were Sexy Styles Throughout
Bare bums . . .
. . . and sheer tops that felt Rihanna-inspired.
Gigi Closed the Show
With an army of models behind her.
