Tamae Ishii, born in Tokyo, raised in California, and educated at Parson's in New York, is young designer with a lot going for her. Aside from her diverse background, her industry experience is helping pave the way for her namesake line, Ishii, which launched just a few seasons ago. As an apprentice of Valentino, her knowledge of refined elegance shows through in her collections. Ishii has also gained industry experience at Calvin Klein, Zac Posen, and Jean Paul Gaultier. This Spring 09 showed sweet, feminine blouses and frocks which, in person, looked very well-made. The slik floral print frocks were our favorite as they seemed to evoke the Valentino spirit.
