Temperley's Sexy New Look Is More Than Just Fashion Folklore
Alice Temperley hailed "the start of a new and exciting era" at London Fashion Week today, leading the Temperley girl down a sexier path for Fall 2014. She did this through fabrication, with sheer panels and inserts, through hues, with an altogether darker palette lifted with bright prints and folk-inspired embroidery, and through hemlines, which either swept the floor or skimmed the upper thigh. Standout pieces included a quilted strapless gown with an allover floral print, heavy knit capes in shades of china blue, long sheer black skirts with primary colored embroidery, and a series of moody evening gowns topped with floor-length coats. While "sexy folk" may sound like a contradiction in terms, it somehow worked here, thanks to the opulent details, incredible prints, and Temperley's knack for putting a glamorous spin on bohemia.
