Trend Alert: Cropped Sleeve Jackets

Nicholas K at ShopStyle

You might say it's a fashion oxymoron to wear cropped sleeve jackets, but say again. These cropped creations give your arms the ability to move more freely and make for an expert layered look.

Imagine this trench with a long-sleeved blouse top peeking out the ends. Or, go mod and color block it with a bright red turtleneck. And if it's not too cold outside, wear it alone and load on the bangles. Au revoir oxymoron.

love cropped jackets for exactly that reason - thick longsleeves are such a pain, and you can always wear gloves if it's really cold (and look very cute) - I really really want the one in the main pic, why does it have to cost so much?!

Yeah, the layering aspect is the most exciting thing about the cropped sleeve jacket trend to me!

i always thought that this was a style that looked good only on certain people, but i bought a jacket like this last fall, and now i'm beginning to see the light. i like that this style is movable and wearable, and you can more easily layer which is ALWAYS a fashion do.

I thought these things were stupid at first, but come to think of it, it can be a good thing not to have heavy sleeves in the way when you're, say, trying to wash your hands at a public bathroom in the winter time.

The only thing I hate is putting one on over a long sleeve top, and then the sleeves get caught behind the cuff and you kind of have to grapple back there with your fingers to pull it out.

I wish I could use the word imputation in my everyday life. I think I'm gonna bring it back!

I've got a couple that I love and wear all the time too so I'm glad they're not too daggy :-D Plus_2_kid, I think Fab called it oxymoronic because jackets are typically worn in cold weather to keep the wearer warm (and by imputation covering up most of your exposed skin), so it seems contrary to have a jacket the sleeves of which are not full length. I could be wrong, and sorry to use stupid words like imputation ... i've been drafting contracts this morning, sad to say. =)

I love the look, but they're just not practical for me. If it's cool enough for a jacket, then I need the sleeve...we don't get a whole lot of "autumn" here. Which sucks. I want to find a nice bracelet sleeved jacket anyhow, though. I bought fab long leather gloves last year, and never bothered wearing them because you couldn't see them.

I don't understand why it's an oxymoron. The joke usually goes that something like military intelligence is an oxymoron - why cropped jacket sleeves?

 I agree Ladies. I have alot of cropped jackets in various colors. I live in FL so of course it doesn't get too cold here. All I need is a cropped jacket when it gets cool or nippy. :)
