Trend Alert: Short Capes

Though I already told you about this Fall's hottest coat trends, there is one cute, cutting-edge style I forgot to mention: short capes. Though capes are traditionally armless and bulky, these modern variations are more like coats, with cropped waists, big buttons, and delicate sleeves. A cape is also more timeless than you might think; you can always get away with throwing on a cape for a dressy evening gathering. Here are some of my favorite capes right now.

Derek Lam Tweed Cape, $1,290, available here.

Chloe Oversized Wool Twill Jacket, $1,225, available here.

Mona & Holly Corey Caplet Jacket, $332, available here.

To see the rest,

Karen Zambos Vintage Couture Double Breasted Cape, $418, available here.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Solid Wool Twill Cape, $458, available here.

Velvet Rachel Cape in Chocolate, $155, available here.

definitely more for people with broad shoulders and longer shoulders. it will just consume short arms! ____________________________________ Don't tick me off. Or you'll get it.

I love the Chloe. I look like Batgirl in capes, though. (And not in a good way.)

ha! flying nun! i could not pull these off, though i'd love to. also, way to pricey for something that will be out of style next year... although it will probably be back in style in 10 or so years. still, too pricey, and i'm too chesty.

Reminds me of the Flying Nun.

I don't think I could wear it either... you need to be slim, with smallish boobs to rock this look. I'd look like I was wearing a circus tent.

I am really adoring this trend, BUT, its definitely not one I think I could or would wear.

I love the Chloe one. I think my husband would divorce me if I paid $1225 for a CAPE (maybe if it enabled me to fly....), so this look is not happening for me.

Not a fan and I think they'd be very hard to pull off.
