>> Anna Wintour and Marc Jacobs appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night to promote Fashion's Night Out — a fact Wintour reminded Fallon of when she steered the conversation back from getting sidetracked: "I think we meant to talk about Fashion's Night Out." And when Fallon describes the event — "So on Friday night, next Friday night, the stores stay open later than normal, and you have sales and stuff” — she corrects him: “No sales. Things are full price.”
Wintour did open up about the Fashion's Night Out fashion show, for which she personally OK'ed the 150-plus ensembles appearing: "My biggest nightmare is it's not going to start on time. Because for many years, I've always complained about people not starting on time. And I'm worried that I'll do the same thing." (Speaking of the FNO show, WWD reports that the June submission deadline for designers to be included in the show and the subsequent selection process ruffled a few feathers: "Sources said Vogue editors made their initial requests to designers and brands, who were given the option to either reproduce the selected Fall look or hand over their sample to the magazine [and thus lose out on PR opportunities on that look until mid-September], for inclusion in the show. There have been grumbles about requested-then-rejected outfits and ill-timed Vogue-mandated edits, too.")
Wintour also told a story on Fallon about when Lady Gaga kept her waiting: “We had Lady Gaga [as a performer] this year [at the Costume Institute Gala]. Well, there was a brief moment where she was communing with God. And she was praying in the back, waiting for the right moment, waiting for God to tell her it was alright to go on stage… Fortunately, he gave her the message after 45 minutes.”
As Jacobs says on Fallon: "Unfortunately, or fortunately, one can't say no to Anna." He posed for a September Vogue photoshoot right after having shoulder surgery: "When I was asked to be in the picture, I was like, okay. I'll leave the hospital, get off the morphine drip, and go to the photo shoot."
