Why Women Buy So Many Shoes

Why Most of Your Shoe Collection Is Going to Waste

Are those countless unworn heels staring out at you from your closet giving you a serious case of buyer's remorse? You're not alone! According to a study just conducted by a UK money-saving website, the typical woman spends $760 amassing her shoe collection (which averages out to about 20 pairs), but ultimately wears close to five pairs on a regular basis. That means most women are wearing merely a quarter of their footwear wardrobe, which begs the question: why?

The study happily did the follow-up work and found that 64 percent of those polled gave the expected response of "discomfort" when explaining why they leave some pairs in the closet. With answers ranging from fashion-based styling issues to a case of unfortunate gifting, tell us where you fall in line!

There is a pair of shoes for every situation. So, i need them all, even if a few pairs are still in the box because they are not for every day.

You can't really hold it against us that shoes end up being uncomfortable. You don't know if a shoe is uncomfortable until you wear it. (Prancing in your living room runway doesn't give an accurate assessment.) Once you wear the shoes they're unreturnable. We're kind of stuck as consumers when it comes to shoes.
