This Fall seems to be the season of the witch! Well, that is, according to the television lineup. I love it as I've always been a fan of shows that have Witchy Women – Vampire Diaries, Super Natural, and new favorites — American Horror Story: Coven and Witches of East End. The shows' differences not only lie in the story lines but also hemlines.
The wardrobe on American Horror Story: Coven consists mostly of blacks and whites. The simple colors juxtapose the vivid plot and colorful backdrop of New Orleans where the show is set. With a simple color scheme, the wardrobe is still as dark and captivating as its cast of characters. The new witches attend a magic school that makes Harry Potter’s alma mater look like Disneyland! They are preparing for a War of Witches and are appropriately dressed as chic magical soldiers. I do believe they put a spell on me, because this weekend while shopping at H&M, I purchased this dress and sleeveless blouse. I also bought a white hair clip that I turned into a brooch. Hey, they’re not the only ones who know a bit of magic. Read on for more witchy ideas!
Up north and set in a coastal town in Long Island, Witches of East End has a lighter wardrobe but just as dark a concept. There is a human sacrifice within the first few minutes of the first episode! Later on, we see more red on screen via the cast, particularly on Freya, one of the main characters; a witch whose powers come from the heart. She wears a lovely red dress to her engagement party accessorized with a simple gardenia, which later changes color from white to red when she sees Killian, her fiancé’s wayward brother. The plot thickens and heats up!
