It's probably most apparent in the sweet plaid frocks — that are entirely backless — Nicky Zimmermann's Resort wear is all about the good girl gone bad. The Australian label lives up to its easy-glam reputation while corrupting the frilly, girlier feel of ruffled, breezy white dresses and schoolgirl plaids with open backs and cutouts that tell a much sexier story.
True to the label's narrative — most notably with Zimmermann's swimwear — this collection, too, was made to highlight the body. There's an eye for the figure in every patchwork, lace, mesh cutout or piece of embroidered lycra that makes up a look – and there's more than one side to every piece that comes down the runway. That's both literal (just a look at the cut-out sides and bare backs could tell you that) and quite figurative: Zimmermann taps into the good and the bad girl dichotomy that's effortlessly playful and sensual. It's that same juxtaposition that makes us fans of the girlie dress and ankle boots styling formula; but Nicky's formula is so much more nuanced.
