These Iconic Movie Wedding Dresses Will Take You Way, Way Back

Although it is a doomed marriage, the traditional Sicilian wedding of Connie Corleone (Talia Shire) to Carlo Rizzi (Gianni Russo) is a beautiful way to start the film. We think her lacy gown is timeless, and we love how she incorporates the European mantilla veil.

For those who dream of a seaside wedding, the film's nuptials in the Greek Isles mean that Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) can wear a flowy, tiered dress — created by costume designer Ann Roth — and a laurel headpiece. Beachy, mermaid hair and bare feet only make her look more like a Grecian goddess.

When Leighton Meester's character Jamie walks down the aisle, she looks sophisticated and feminine in a strapless design by Vera Wang.

While many of the designs in The Hunger Games were by Alexander McQueen, Katniss's wedding gown was created by Indonesian designer Tex Saverio, and it was definitely fit for a warrior bride. Needless to say, Jennifer Lawrence pulled it off flawlessly.

To create a more realistic scene, costume designer Walter Plunkett fitted the dress on Ellen O'Hara's dress form so that the dress drooped on the young, shorter Scarlett's small frame. He also chose leg-of-mutton sleeves that were in fashion 30 years prior to this wedding.

Much like the film's title, the wedding dress is anything but small. Toula Portokalos (Nia Vardalos) is a "frosted cupcake" on her big day. That veil, those sleeves, that choker . . . It all adds up to a lot of look.

Rachel McAdams plays Paige, who marries Leo (Channing Tatum) in a short and sweet pink ensemble by costume designer Alex Kavanagh. It's a playful look all her own, and a memorable one at that.

Thanks to the historical research done by costume designer Sandy Powell, the titular character (Emily Blunt) wears a dress based on the original gown worn at Kensington Palace, complete with ivory duchess silk satin and antique lace detail. Her accessories, also true to real life, include St. George's collar chain, an antique crystal necklace, and a sapphire paste brooch.

Although the title of the film promises four weddings, we felt Carrie (Andie MacDowell) wore the showstopper dress. We haven't seen a headband-turned-veil styled so well any time since.

There's nothing like a royal wedding, and when Princess Mia (Anne Hathaway) walks down the aisle in a regal, lace-sleeved wedding dress created by costume designer Gary Jones, it is a true tissue-grabbing moment.

It was a silent film, so the dress truly had to speak for itself. Next to the monster, Elizabeth (Mae Clarke) looks especially pious in an all-white gown with an extralong veil.
