30 Percent of Americans Have Had Difficulty Sleeping in the Last 30 Days

Have You Had Trouble Sleeping in the Last 30 Days?

A recent health survey took a snapshot of our national health and found that in the past month, 30 percent of Americans have had difficulty sleeping. I am not sure if the figure seems high or low to me. So I thought I would do some independent research and post the question to you. Me? I've had my bouts with insomnia, but nothing has kept me from sleeping in the last month.

I rarely have trouble sleeping, but I've been having a hard time falling asleep for the last couple of weeks. Not sure what it is. Hopefully it will go away soon.

I rarely have problems unless I'm sick or watched a scary movie.

I can hardly ever sleep at night. I feel safer sleeping during the day.

Yep, yep, yep. I've had so much trouble sleeping since the new year, I've been laying awake for hours, waking up in the middle of the night, getting very shallow sleep and being constantly exhausted during the day. When it's really bad I take Valerian tablets, or natural sleep aids for it.

I'm rarely a good sleeper.

I'm usually a pretty good sleeper, but sometimes our bedroom gets too warm because of the woodstove. If my room gets too toasty, I cannot sleep properly.

I've always slept through the night in the past but now I've been waking up about 3 times every night. Pretty interesting to learn that I'm not the only one! Slightly comforting too.

Yeah me too! I'm on the same boat as mamasita. It takes me around two hours to get even vaguely sleepy, and then I wake up at night and in the morning a lot.

I'm in the same boat as mamasitamalita. I used to have no problems sleeping but within the last month that has all changed. I have trouble falling asleep then I always wake up at least 30 mins before my alarm and then I am so sleepy during the day. This happens at least 2-3 times a week. Its really getting to me.

I usually fall asleep easily but find myself waking up multiple times and feeling wide-awake in the middle of the night, drag but I'm used to it.

i voted no. i didn't count the night before i had a grad school interview - i couldn't sleep because of nerves and because the hotel room was freezing. but in general, i sleep very well.

Some nights.....but that's because my 4 month old kitten thinks its ok to sleep on my face at 3 am, or that me rolling over means I'm awake and ready to be attacked! Other than that, not really.

I'm typically a good sleeper but the last 6 weeks or so have been awful for me. Hard time falling asleep, waking up multiple times, feeling wide-awake in the middle of the night and sleepy during the day... bothersome but has escalated to the point of me being really exhausted. I actually called my doctor yesterday to get five or ten sleeping pills just for the nights when I really need some solid sleep. I know that it's some emotional stuff and things going on at work so I'm certain it will pass and don't really WANT to take the pills but I'm tired!!

I've been fine... actually, the past month has been some of my best sleep yet. Been going to bed earlier than usual and waking up at my old (normal) time... January I was up til almost 1am and then awake at 8am... thats unlike me, I'm generally 1130pm-7am type of person.
