The "bed of greens" tip is excellent. I try to avoid carbs as much as possible and eat more protein and veggies. A great snack - 100 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 12 grams of protein - is a chicken sausage. You can find them at Trader Joe's or Target. Target has an organic Sweet Apple Chicken Sausage made by Archer Farms that's excellent. Just wrap one in a paper towel, pop it in the microwave for 35 seconds, and you're good to go - just don't add a bun!

I think these are some of the best comments I've seen up here. How many times have you heard "sub applesauce for oil" or "skip mayo and cheese on your sandwich". This is solid advise for everyone - those looking to maintain or lose weight. I especially like the "you don't have to be anal about it, just be aware" bit, because like you said, if you're unconsciously doubling up on portions, and then wondering "why did I gain 3 pounds this week?".. well whose mistake is that?

I'm always dieting. But I used to be able to skip food more to keep thin. Now when I try to skip, I get weak and shaky in the legs, or feelings of no energy. Then I try snacking small all day and that never works either. Dieting can be tricky. Thanks for the advice.
