I'm loving this Dove campaign. I understand they're out to sell their stuff, but at least they're trying to find a more positive way of doing it.

i love it, and i think madbain etc are helping everyone to get the REAL message: dove has to sell products that people need, but they aren't going to charge you an arm and leg and promise different genetics in a bottle, because they don't think that it is right.

I like the commercial and I like Dove's marketing strategy in general. They sell shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, etc. and they show real people using them. I mean, c'mon, everyone buys shampoo right? I think Dove does a pretty good job of saying "Hey look, our shampoo makes your hair nice and clean", NOT "Our shampoo will turn you into a sex kitten" (like some shampoo ads claim). So I guess I'd rather buy their brand of stuff than ones that aren't quite so socially responsible.

I really love their commercials. Using realistic models makes me feel better about being normal. I think that's what they're against in the beauty product business, unrealistic (and a lot of the time, unhealthy) expectations. People need shampoo and conditioner, soap and moisturizer. It's not as if they're being hypocritical and pushing products that promise ridiculous things. I also really like their commercials with the older ladies. I think they're very attractive for that age, and very natural. I hope I look that good at that age.

Love the message...as a mother of a little girl. However what are they selling? -- Beauty Products. Is it hypocritical? Or is it supposed to NOT sell their own products?

I think what the film is trying to er.. fight is the "miracles creams and medicines". Of course they sell cellulite cream, but well those creams don't do miracles. Those creams kind of help if you help.I don't think Dove is selling miracles like those pills that make you thin in 2 weeks. Or something like that...err.. did I make a point?

I second Amanda-La's sentiments. It's enough to make a woman fighting mad, but what exactly are we going to fight? The beauty companies, who have a product to sell and must market it to make money? The fashion industry, who pushes forth an ever-younger, slimmer, and taller ideal? The media at large?I can't undo the conditioning in my brain that tells me I'll never be as pretty (and, by extension, good) as this ideal, but I'm at a loss of what CAN be done. And while I agree with the message, we have to remember this is from a company that sells cellulite cream. They're in it to make money just as much as any other company is- this is just the angle they're working.
