As trainer on NBC's The Biggest Loser, Bob is the face of countless weight loss success stories. Today he's going to share with us the secrets to getting "the Biggest Loser" treatment at home. Hello Bob. How are you? I'm doing well! So what are your parting words of wisdom that you say to contestants before they go home? Gosh, remember all the hard work that you went through, that whole journey, and now it's time for you to put everything that I've taught you into the real world. Right. I think that to me is the biggest challenge, because when these guys are on the ranch, they are in a controlled environment. And I mean they have got me right there telling them exactly what to eat, when to go to bed, what kind of workout that I want them to do, and when it's time for them to go home, it's time for them to really stand on their own two feet. Now, a question that we all have is how many hours do people actually exercise on the show? Well, on the show it is completely unrealistic I mean these guys do not have their jobs, they do not have their family, they have no other responsibilites possibility other than working out. So they are working out six plus hours a day. And I mean to tell you. It is crazy. It exhausts me. Sometimes I look at them and I'm like, "Better them than me." That's amazing. So how can folks at home sort of take that and actually do it realistically? I think that the discipline you gotta find is first you gotta find something that you really enjoy doing. I mean, I think that I've had plenty of people come up to me on the street, at airports, grocery stores. They're like, "Bob I know I need to lose weight. But I hate to run, I'm never going to run." And I am like, "Well let's not put running on your to do list then." How about that when you enjoy doing it, you're more likely to do it. So let's say we had about 30 minutes, what should we be doing? Should we be doing cardio, should we be doing sculpting? I'm very big into cross fit, I'm very big into circuit kind of training. So, I like to combine those too. If you got 30 minutes, I want you to really push your body to the limit. So If you can incorporate one minute sprints with some sort of kettle bell work or some sort of body weight conditioning, combine those two together in the 30 minutes and you're going to get major results from that. Yeah. And people are like, "Well if I don't have 30 minutes to work out I'm not gonna work out at all. And I'm like I'd rather you work out for 15 minutes if that's all you have to set up a routine." Right. That's amazing! Now is that really enough, though, to achieve weight loss? I mean, combined with good nutrition obviously, but. Absolutely. That 's enough. Absolutely. I think that, again, if you want it to be enough, it's got to be really high intensity. Right. You've got to take that meter of intensity and you've got to jack it all the way up. Thank you, Bob. Thanks so much for chatting with us today. Thanks so much. I had a great time. We'll see you next time on FitSugar TV.
