Biggest Loser Families Starts Tonight

If you are looking for some inspiration, and possibly a few teary moments, then don't forget to tune into the season premiere of The Biggest Loser Families on NBC tonight at 8 p.m. (7 p.m. CDT).

Motivational trainers Jillian Micheal or Bob Harper return to the show to lead teams of two, husband and wife or parent and child, on their competitive weight-loss journey. The show is always emotional, but add familial love to the mix and you are sure to see some heartwarming, or even heated, moments. Hopefully, after watching you will be inspired to get you own heart rate up. Will you be watching?

familyfitness: That's awesome! It sounds like you and your family are getting a lot out of the show. I only watched a little bit of the most recent Biggest Loser (couples, was it?), and although I hate some of the drama, I like a lot of other parts of the show. It makes me thankful for my fitness and motivates me to keep it up.

I'm watching, too. These people are so amazing and inspiring. I know some people hate Jillian's training style, but if I had a trainer that's exactly what I'd need to really push myself.

I'm watching it right now! I always love seeing the new contestants and watching them get motivated. Plus, I love watching Jillian yell at everyone to get them psyched up, LOL.

We love this show and watch it as a family. In our time zone, it runs from 7 to 9 pm, so every Tuesday we try to finish dinner and baths a little early and then watch. For added fun, we break into two teams of two and take turns playing "trainer." On commercial breaks, we might guide the other team through stair laps, walking lunges or yoga poses. (We have a 10yo son and 6yo daughter.) Then on the next commercial break, we switch. The kids rest during the show. My husband and I might lift dumbbells or do pushups or crunches on the stability ball. At 8, everyone stops exercising. The kids are usually in bed between 8:30 and 9, but we always let them stay up to the end and then it is straight to bed directly afterward: no book, no story, just lights out. We have followed this show since it began and it has made each of us more aware of the value of a healthy lifestyle. It is wonderful to see my kids learning what it means to make good choices, and what the consequences can be when they don't. They have seen me lose 55 pounds and keep it off for a couple years now and I think this show, coupled with my experience, has benefitted them greatly.

gumdrops334, you can catch the firs hour on the show's official site if you miss it in real time. This show is my guilty pleasure - I love it even though there are so many things wrong with it. I especially love watching Jillian torture the contestants ;).

i'll definitely watch the show --- it inspires me to get off the couch! and i love bob and jillian. (jillian's 30-day shred dvd totally kicked my butt!) i hope, however, that they go back to the 1-hour format after the premiere. the 2-hour eps were just took long --- i turned to dvr'ing the eps so i could fast-fwd thru the boring parts...
