We know that Michelle Obama is big into fitness, and it looks like she's a big fan of The Biggest Loser, too — she appeared on the show last week when the contestants stormed the White House. We caught up with the show's trainer Bob Harper, still high from the experience, and asked him what working with the first lady was really like. Does she complain about squats? How's her form when it comes to push-ups? Learn the answers and more when you watch the video.View Transcript »
Fresh off this high of training Michelle Obama on The Biggest Loser, Bob Harper tells us the inside story of his White House workout. You've gotta tell us about your experience with Michelle Obama at the White House. Oh, as I get chills talking about it. I know, me too. The Biggest Loser experience. Tell us about that. Okay, we've gotta go back a little bit. Yes, set it up. I'm gonna set it up. You know, it's like I love to tell other stories because like, wow, I got to work with Michelle Obama. I get a call. This was before she was on Biggest Loser. It's her whole Let's Move Initiative. Right. And she wanted me to come in for the two-year anniversary in Des Moines, Iowa. It turns out that they wanted me to introduce Michelle like she's my friend. They wanted me to introduce the first lady and I got to work with her for the first time and I was like she was so fantastic. And she was so cool. And then cut to a couple of weeks later. I'm in the White House for Biggest Loser. I'm meeting her again. She comes up. She hugs me. She's like, "It's so nice to see you again." I'm just like, "Wow, that's really cool." Then, I got to work her out, which was like incredible! So what did you do with her? We were working out and she's so strong, she's so fit. There was one point when I was needing her to increase her range of motion on the squat and I was really thinking, "How am I gonna stay there?" And at one point I was like, "With all due respect, Mrs. Obama, you've gotta go down a lot lower than that." I think I said it a little differently, but. Low, Mrs. Obama. Low! But the thing about it is, she's so physically fit. Well, I was gonna say, I mean, she looks just so strong. She is incredibly strong. It's like when I was standing next to her, she's almost as tall as me. And she's just fit and strong. I mean, she took everything that I was dishing out. And I loved at one point when I was having her do some balance work, she just kind of looked at me and she said, "Can anybody get the First Lady a towel?" or something like that and it was just, it was the best thing in the world.
