I've seen people doing this too, they're either going too fast or not using the equiptment correctly. Regardless they're an accident waiting to happen.

The rails on stairclimbers take so much abuse!

I see a lot of people holding on for dear life. Is this common at other gyms? I usually see it more with people walking on treadmills and susing stair climbers. I know I'm a little slow on the stair climber in comparison, but at least I'm using my body weight for resistance. Some people at my gym are so bent over on those hand rails they resemble the Hunchback of ND.
