Butter or Cream Cheese?

Sometimes one the weekends I splurge and eat breakfast foods I usually don't indulge in during the week. Saturdays I often crave a soft toasted bagel.

Yes but cream cheese has trans fat which is the worst fat of all to eat . The daily amount of trans fat you should ingest recommend if you have to eat it is 1-2g because is so bad for you so in my eyes even though I like cream cheese butter is the better choice.

That's weird I've never thought to put butter on a bagel...it's just bread and I use butter for toast. It's like ketchup with scrambled eggs but not fried eggs. I don't know why it it still sounds wrong! lol

I heard once that cream cheese has hardly any nutritional value so I rarely eat it, but my husband and I love treating ourselves to a breakfast of bagels, cream cheese, capers and smoked salmon every once in a while. Last time we tried low fat cream cheese and I did not notice it being diffrent than the reg.

That's so true. I agree that people more than likely put more cream cheese on their bagel than butter. Interesting...

Well you can always use margarine in place of butter, and I’m sure that has less saturated fat, especially if the margarine doesn’t have any dairy. Like earth balance, I think that would be a healthier choice, no cholesterol and no trans- fatty acids, and Jennifer your right I think everyone buts a lot less butter on their bagel then they do cream cheese.

But, you actually use much less butter than cream cheese on your bagel, right? I know I do. I wonder if it ends up working out about the same either way...
