Calorie Breakdown of Ice Cream, Popsicles, and Frozen Treats

How Well Do You Know Your Frozen Treats?

Since the Spring sunshine finally arrived over the long holiday weekend, I indulged with a bit of yummy ice cream topped with strawberries in balsamic vinegar. I must say, it was the perfect way to beat the heat. And even though frozen treats provide a nice cool down, they are not made equally. Think you know the skinny on Popsicles and and Klondike bars? Take my quiz and find out!

You guys REALLY need to fix your quizzes at Sugar. They suck. I click to being the survey, it takes me to the last page, telling me I got 1 out of 5 right. I never even answered a question. This happens alot with teh quizzes on here.

2/5 hmmm i'm lactose intolerant so ice-cream has never been my summer treat of choice, i prefer popsicles or even better, frozen smoothies that come in pyramid style packaging

My frozen indulgence is currently the Nestle "Lil' Drums" Drumsticks. At 140 calories with 60 calories from fat, they aren't as not-bad for you as, say, a popsicle made from natural fruit juices. However, of all of the frozen sweets I've tried it is easily the most satisfying (my favorite is the vanilla with chocolatey swirls). You get a little bit of a crunch to start, soft and sweet icecream after that, then a very chocolately finish (the cone is filled with chocolate!) with even more crunch. The alternating textures and flavors always leave me feeling satisfied and since they're individually wrapped, it's easy for me to stop at just one, versus ice cream where I might go back for "just one more bite" and end up with a second bowl. >_<

I am usually against Weight Watchers treats (all sugar, not filling, goes against their healthy diet philosophy, etc.), but I picked up some cookies and cream bars at the store yesterday. They're about 140 calories each. I can't buy my favorite ice cream (Edy's Slow Churned Fully Loaded Cookies and Cream) anymore due to my lack of portion control. I hope the bar form will help with that!

The first question surprised me. My icecream sandwiches at home are 130.

I don't really eat any of these, but still managed a 3/5. Before I eat anything, I read the nutritional facts then and there.
