Can You Identify the Produce?

Last night on the Biggest Loser a lot of the contestants were not able to identify certain foods in the produce section of the grocery store. Fruits and veggies can be hard to identify but knowing what's what is key to eating a healthy diet, so I'm curious how well you know your produce. Take this little quiz and see if you can identify different types of produce.

I never understand how people live without wide variety of veggies - I love the BBC show You Are What You Eat, and I am always floored that people don't know what, like, cabbage is - they literally never eat veggies at home... It's very sad to me, a vegetarian!! Fresh, and varied veggies make me happy and sexy!! Love them...

I love brussel spouts that have been frozen, I don't like the fresh ones. They have a dusty taste to me. We in the South call Yams, Sweet Potatoes. If you have never eaten them they are delicous. Just bake until soft, peel and mash with butter while they are hot is the simplist way to eat. There are sweet potato casseroles out there that melt in you mouth and are desserts not vegetables. Line dish with chopped nuts mixed with butter to make a paste for the potatoes and top with marshmellows. There are many ways to fix the potatoes out there. You may not can get them in Norway but probably could get some shipped in from one of the southern states. They keep in a dry place for a long time. I have not tryed leeks, don't like the squashes. The yellow squash is the most popular one here. I love them fried, which is not good. I love raw vegetables more than cooked, which is good for a diabetic. Some of the fruits I didn't know what they were, Pongrantics are hard to get unless you know some one with a tree. We had one and also a persimmon tree too when I was little. Another is mulberries that you don't see anymore. We had a tree that lightning had hit and they still grew out of top that had fell to the ground. Blackberries grow on brier bushes and they are hard to find also. Thanks for the giveaway and Everyone have a great Christmas and a Blessed, Prosperous New Year.

9/10 - Was torn on the mango vs papaya but the rest were easy-peasy! (and make me want to cook something now. hehe) I never knew that about sweet potoatoes, Jessica! I tend to think of them as that, as well as yams though I've heard there is actually a small difference in the two.

Hey, teacherturtle1 is correct. That's no yam; it's a sweet potato! I love all these veggies, except for the avocados and leeks (which are poisonous to us birds!) Brussels sprouts, pea pods, radishes -- I eat those every single day. And, of course, broccoli!!! Mmmmm
