Did You Buy a BPA-Free Plastic Water Bottle?

When news about Nalgene bottles causing cancer broke, I ditched my old plastic bottle and bought a metal one. They're a lot heavier, though, and not the most ideal to take on hikes and walks. I just bought new BPA-free plastic water bottles for my hubby and me.

What about you . . .

there are so many opposite reports about this one. i can understand the fear of BPA in things, but i'm not sure that we really know enough information for me to freak out about things. i guess there's something to worry about if other countries don't allow it, but i think that i need to do more research on my own to understand things.

I have a metal water bottle, and I don't agree that it's heavier than a nalgene. They're likely about the same. I've taken an aluminum sigg and a stainless steel water bottle on multi-day hikes and had no qualms about the "extra weight." I do have a new plastic BPA free one that I got as a gift from work. I use it sometimes, but sometimes not.

i'm not going to get a new bpa free one. there are so many things that we use everyday that cause cancer and i think that you just have to risk it sometimes.

I gave up my favorite Nalgene (a pink one with a daisy on it from Life Is Good) upon my parents continued requests. They bought me a 1L red Sigg bottle, but my boyfriend doesn't like it because when he sees me drink out of it his first instinct is that I am drinking out of a fuel bottle! Life Is Good JUST came out with the pink daisy bottle in the Everyday line from Nalgene. Since my birthday is next Tuesday, I am hoping to get a replacement Nalgene. I prefer the wide-mouth bottle with the idiot sipper . . . My Sigg is a pain to unscrew (yes, it's silly, but I am a teacher and I need to keep drinking, and there is no way that I am going to leave an open bottle on my desk next to my laptop). Here's hoping I get a new Nalgene!

I still use my old Nalgene, but I'm planning to buy a new BPA free one next time I go to REI.

I still use my from time to time, don't use it that much - even before this news. You might want to read this article I recently found about this. http://outside.away.com/outside/gear/gearguy/200709/20070921.html

I bought a CamelBak that is BPA free, but that wasn't specifically why I bought a new waterbottle - I left both of mine at home when I came back to school. :-P But now I LOVE my CamelBak and don't think I'll ever go back to a nalgene. :) The bit valve is just too awesome. Especially at the gym, it's so much easier.

Nope, I just continue to use my old one. I might replace it eventually, but it's just not something I think about much.

I used my Nalgene for 5 years before I switched to Sigg. I adore my Sigg bottles, I have a 1L and a 0.5L. They're so much easier to drink from but I miss being able to put them in the dishwasher like I could with my Nalgene!

I bought a Sigg but kept my old Nalgene. I love my Nalgene and I still use it sometimes...was sad to hear about the BPA issue. I mostly use my metal one though - it's nice looking but it dents so easily and is heavy to carry! I would prefer the Nalgene if it wasn't for the BPA.

I used a Nalgene for YEARS until that information came out, then I ditched mine. I've been in the market for a Sigg ever since, but am having trouble committing to a design (I am so picky!!)

Fortunately, my CamelBak Better Bottle (1L) is already BPA-free. I LOVE the biting valve system on it! It's so convenient. I can't stand metal water bottles...it always seems to give the water a metallic taste, and if you leave it in there too long, it'll rust!

i hate the lids and mouth feel of the plastic ones... they tip over all the time too. I LOVE my sigg!!! It's so comfortable to drink out of that i drink more water.
