One of my close friends from college has Celiac. She has been really wonderful about teaching me about the disorder. I know she always felt guilty about finding gluten free-friendly place to eat when we would go out to dinner, but we were happy to accomodate her!

My boyfriend is gluten/wheat/lactose/soya/corn/sugar intolerant. It makes meal times a real hassle. I'm lactose intolerant but it's no big deal. At least I don't need to live off chips and bacon. =P

I missed one because i read it wrong! Darn! My mother and my mother's mother both have celiac disease. But to diagnose my mom they just did a biopsy on her small intestines. I cant imagine the struggle of not being able to eat wheat, and i buy gluten free stuff for them when i can because i live in a city and in rural america where they live it's so hard to find food like that. Thanks for this quiz Fit. :)

Sorry have to get back on the soap box for a minute. Technically your question THREE is incorrect. Celiac is not an allergy to gluten it is an autoimmune disease and produces a immune response to gluten. An allergry is a histimine response. Celiac is not an allergy. Think of it in terms of a diabeetes which is also an autoimmune disease. see last question http://www.celiaccenter.org/faq.asp#allergy

I have Dermatitis Herpetiformis, which is also a gluten sensitivity. Instead of the glutens messing with my stomach and intestines, they cause large painful blisters on my skin. I was mis-diagnosed several times before a skin biopsy was done and a proper diagnosis was made.

2 of my duaghters have celiacs. the first has been gf for over 6 years and the second for about 1 year. they present their symptoms very differently and my second daughter's allergy is mild. the food available now is so much better than it was when i started the gf diet with my first so long ago. i had to buy a lot of her food through the mail! now whole foods has a great gf bakery section with lots of yummy things my girls love. there are web sites dedicated to which grocery items are gf (lays potato chips and fritos for example) for anyine getting started. just do a google on gf diet or try gluten free pantry. :)

Fortunately for those who cannot eat gluten there is a variety of gluten-free foods and a certain brand of gluten-free chocolate cake that is ridiculously good!

Ya hoo! Only one wrong and I struggled between my choice and the correct one. I have a friend that was diagnosed with Celiac this year and so I've been learning a lot about gluten and gluten free. My son is even really getting into it - asking when we visit my friend and are buying a snack if it's gluten free so she can eat it. SO cute! :)
