Do You Splurge on the Weekends?

When the work week is over, it's human nature to want to celebrate and let loose. For some that means going out for drinks Friday night, then hitting your favorite restaurant for a four-course meal. Or maybe Saturday you enjoy an elaborate brunch at a nearby cafe, and go to a friend's house for cocktails and dessert later that evening. Or perhaps Sunday morning you may delve into a deluxe pancake breakfast in bed. For some letting loose is all about enjoying food so tell me . . .

So far, I haven't had a very hard time trying not to splurge. I'm afraid if I splurge at this early time in my weight loss efforts, I may sabotage myself since I don't have a lot of willpower yet. For something sweet, fruit is usually enough for me. I haven't had hardly any cravings so far, and I'm pretty proud of myself for that. I've been trying to keep more of a mental attitude towards food since I used to eat out of sheer boredom.

sometimes. it depends on where i am and what i'm doing. if i'm at my mom's house then i'll have maybe a scoop of ice cream or something since i don't keep it in my house.

No, I'm not into splurging (specifically, eating junk food). To me, my healthy food taste more delicious than junk food. It just does. In fact, just a while ago, my husband teased me about my food. I was eating plain (yummy) oatmeal, and he was having a freshly baked pizza. He told me that he wouldn't want to trade food with me, in which I replied,"Neither would I." :)

I do treat myself on the weekends, but it's a completely different sort of treat than I would have had before I overhauled my diet (and lost 25 kilograms in the process). On Friday night, instead of veggies and lean protein, I have a toasted cheese sandwich with a tomato and lentil soup for dinner; on Saturday I have homemade apple, blueberry and raspberry cinnamon breadd and fruit leather for dessert. Admittedly the sandwich is made without butter, only enough cheese to fill the sandwich, and the bread is 100% wholegrain and contains no refined sugars. I know. I'm wild. :)

If I grocery shop on Friday nights on the way home from work, sometimes I will indulge in some special things for the weekend. Doesn't necessarily have to be "bad for you" foods, sometimes just more gourmet like some great wines, cheeses, meats, etc. that I would normally not splurge on during the week.

I always splurge on Sunday morning for breakfast! I eat well the rest of the day and all week, but Sunday mornings it's always bacon, eggs, fried potatoes, and toast! YUM!

I usually do (then again, if I want to splurge whenever, I'd probably do it if I feel super deprived or something which I'm not) , but Not This weekend because of my hubby's birthday last Wednesday and my dad's, we've been just eating out during dinner time.

I don't usually splurge on weekends...I'd much rather just indulge myself by letting myself have a small treat each day. I find that keeps me on track better for some reason. If I have a splurge day, I get in sort of an "all or nothing" mindset and I feel like a giant blob the rest of the day.

I've been splurging big times on the weekend--now that bathing suit season is upon us, I need to stop this nasty little habit!

I used to splurge a day on weekends but then I realized that sometimes it took me a couple of days during the week to get back on track. I go overboard a little one day on the weekend now but not the way I used to.

I do splurge sometimes, but not necessarily on weekends. just when there's something to celebrate.

Every Sunday, I make a big family dinner with dessert. We don't usually eat dessert otherwise unless it's someone's birthday cake. My kids are learning that dessert is "sometimes food" and it's OK to finish a meal and not have something sweet every day. I also use Sunday night dinners to try fancy new recipes that I otherwise wouldn't make during the week.

OMG - that is so weird - It was my birthday this Wensday so for once we had dessert (we only have dessert on special occasions) and we had pancakes with vanilla ice cream and strawberries! It didn't look as delicious as the picture, but boy it was good!
