Do You Take Naps Regularly?

I just read that about one-third of American adults take naps regularly. I am jealous. Napping regularly sounds quite luxurious to me — it is rare that I get to take a snooze in the middle of the day. Now that my 4- year-old is giving up her nap, my chances are even slimmer. A recent survey found a gender split on napping, with men taking siestas more frequently than women. The survey also broke down napping by income level and folks making between $75,000 and $100,000 napped less often than those in the surrounding income brackets. What about you?

I NEVER nap anymore, because I have had enough! I had glandular fever last year and it caused this terrible napping problem, where I would get insanely sleepy like 1-2 hrs after waking and have to have an at least 2 hour nap to function for the rest of the day! It was SO frustrating because it was like my day had to start at 11am rather than say, 7! I couldn't get a job and I had to organise any appointments and plans with friends for the afternoon no matter what! Finally I have shaken it and I never want to nap again! They can seem so appealing to busy people, but when you HAVE to have one, they are hell!

I wish I could still take the afternoon naps I did in college, however I doubt my boss would approve much.

I always feel more tired after a nap. So unless I didn't get my 8 hours, there is no reason to nap for me. Unless it is a beautiful day and I doze off in the shade. Perfect.

I take a nap everyday right after lunch. I can sleep sitting up, and 15 to 20 minutes are all that I need. It makes such a huge difference in my ability to concentrate though in the mid afternoon!

I just moved back from the south of Spain, where a good nap in the middle of the day is completely non-optional! It's a nice habit to have acquired :-)

I love napping. When I was in high school I would nap every day; I know do it once in a while I don't get as tier

I don't nap, but my husband does. It bugs me when he gives me a hard time about sleeping in later than he does, only to find him sleeping for a few hours on the couch in the middle of the afternoon. I've started explaining that I just combine my nap with my regular sleeping!

I was never a napper, even as a little kid. Naps leave me feeling groggy and disoriented.

I don't know what it is, but I just can't fall asleep during the day and wake up feeling refreshed. I always feel like I could be accomplishing things if I were awake and I end up getting up and doing things. My husband LOVES naps. I swear, he will come home from work, take his shoes off, and pass out for a good 3 hours. Then he wakes up and can't go to sleep until 1 or 2 am, lol. I'm more of a solid-7-hours-at-night sleeper. That's when I'm the most productive.

As a kid, I hated naps, they felt like a waste of fun time, and I always got sweaty. But now, as an adult, I am ADDICTED! I think it's like I'm addicted to sleep. Any mention of a nap and I'm like, oh yeah... ZZzzzzz And I'm gone!

Only when I run farther than 10 miles or when I'm sick. Otherwise, napping just makes me feel bad.

I don't have to nap every day, but I love to whenever I get the chance. It doesn't take much time cos I fall asleep really easily, so I can grab 10 or 15 mins of sleep while I'm sitting on the bus or in a waiting room... I love sleeping :)

I try to get enough sleep at night so that I don't have to nap.

I used to be a serious napper in college when my schedule was really open and i was only getting 6 hours of sleep a night. But now that I'm working I leave the house at about 7am don't get home until 10pm. Sometimes I still sneak in a nap on a sunday, though.

I don't like napping. It throws off my rhythm for the rest of the day and sometimes interferes with regular sleep.

I'm the same as you Mariana, I looove naps but when I do, I end up napping for 2-3 hours and then I can't sleep! Its so frustrating, but naps feel so good

I'm just far too neurotic to nap. Every time I lay down to try and take a snooze, my mind instantly starts racing with thoughts of everything else I could be accomplishing. It's terrible!

i love napping but if i do nap i get no sleep at all at night, even if i took a 30 minute nap, so i avoid them entirely

I wake up grumpy when I nap, so I try not to. Granted, if I'm exhausted and I can sleep, I will. But, I always try to just stay up and go to sleep early.

I wish I could nap during the week. Ofcourse I can't do it at work, and when I come home from work there are usually so many things to do (working out, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry,...) that I find it a waste of time. I miss napping :(

I love a good nap although it's hard during the workweek. But on the weekends, I regularly schedule one in. Getting up at 5:30 in the morning and not getting to bed until 10 at night leaves me feeling drained by the afternoon, especially about 2 hours after I eat lunch. I wish I could take a nap from 2-3 every day because when I do squeeze that in, I have more energy in the evening and can get more done. My work noticeably suffers in the afternoon.

If I could a little after lunchtime snooze every day, I would. I used to nap a lot more, especially when I was in college and grad school, but now that I am working (and also working out!) I find that I have more energy to stay awake. If I need a nap on the weekends though, I'll take one or two as long ones mean my body is feeling rundown, so I just try to listen to what my body is telling me. I think naps are important!
