Do Your Eating Patterns Change on the Weekends?

I have found that weekends, as wonderfully unstructured as they are, can wreak havoc on my eating patterns. It seems that discipline goes out the window on both Saturday and Sunday. There's the sleeping in, followed by brunch, a late lunch, and maybe a night on the town. Without my weekday structure, my eating pattern changes drastically and not always for the better. I am wondering if I am alone in this change.

So tell me . . .

I have probably the worst eating habit on the planet to begin with. I have a tendency to forget to eat (my job is flex lunch, which adds to the dilemma) during the week. On weekends when I am alone I can go on for the entire day with just a banana, a pot of strong tea and a book.

Mon-Sat I'm on track. Sunday is my cheat day. I don't go crazy and eat everything in site, but if I want a slice of pizza I have it:)

this weekend was worst than most. my parents were up...so that meant breakfast and dinner out both days, and we rented a movie on Friday, which means chips and other snacks that I would hardly ever normally eat!

i dont believe it is necessarily wrong to relax strict eating rules on the weekend..instead i think it is great at keeping a balance of not always being self concious about reaching out for dessert or other yummy treats we otherwise turn away. At least for me knowing the weekend is my time off from healthy time gets me through the strict week of diet and exercise.

during the week I'm good about eating 6 small meals a day- but on the weekends all my hard work goes out the window. :( I ruin the hard work I've done during the week by eating fewer, larger meals.:(

I don't really eat differently. The biggest difference is that I don't eat food from home for dinner on Sundays.

i usually have at least one "special" meal on the weekends, and i guess i also splurge more.

I try to stay on track as much as possible during the weekend. I don't work out as much on the weekends, so I have to watch what I eat more closely. Sometimes I eat more, but it really depends on what my social schedule is like. If I'm going out with friends or family, I'll have a treat but I try to make sure I choose pretty healthy stuff.

I have to confess that I tend to indulge more during the weekend. For instance I don't keep desserts or cookies at home but when I go out, especially to Whole Foods, site of freshly made delicious desserts... I will likely grab a scone or vegan cupcake :-=

I'm usually so busy during the week that I can only socialize on the weekends and I've noticed that it's changed my eating habits over the weekend. When I'm hanging out with my friends I'm pretty care free about what I'm eating because we're just out to have a great time, so if we want to grab some ice cream or something, I don't think twice about it. But during the week my meals are usually not social, they're just about fueling up and my choices are smarter. I think it usually balances :D

I try to maintain a good balance during the week to factor in the weekends, where everything's unstructured. However, it can get too unstructured. I'm going to take some of the great ideas here; seriously, you are inspiring.

i think i tend to eat more fast food during the week, when i'm on the way home and starving, but don't really have the time or motivation to cook.

I make whole wheat bread on the weekend (in a bread machine) and eat it (Not all of it!) with french cheese! and maybe drink a glass or two of apple cider or wine. And I eat popcorn (salty)... These are my weekend snacks in between healthy meals!

I stick to my regular eating pattern...that is to eat whatever I want whenever I want but in moderation!

I snack more during the weekdays than I do the weekends, but I do eat bigger, fewer meals on the weekends. But I think nutritionally, it stays the same, because I control what food I'm eating.

I do really well on weekends and my husband follows my lead. I also make some more good healthly meals and such. Like low fat, high fiber, no sugar, bran muffins. Yum. The weekends are a great time to eat well and get in more exercise without you realizing it.

The main difference in our house is that we eat out at least once during the weekend. During the week we eat food we prepare ourselves at home. We still try to eat healthy on the weekends, but we're not strict about it. When we snack, we snack in moderation.
