Does Outdoor or Indoor Fitness Move You More?

Warmer weather makes it possible for more of us to take advantage of exercising outside, and the higher temperatures are irresistible for those who prefer working out in the open air. Not everyone is super keen on using the outdoors to get fit, though, so for them, better weather has nothing to do with their fitness preferences. Do you prefer to exercise outdoors or are you more inclined to work out inside?

I am definitely an indoor girl. To be fair it's an issue of my eyesight. My pupils work backwards so obviously going outside is annoying and painful. I like talking walks but that's not my main source of exercise and i only like doing that in the evenings.

I would like working out outdoors a lot more if there were less bees.

I prefer outdoor but it's hard to do in rainy Seattle. So it's the gym for me!

If there weather is nice, you can't get me to work out inside. But because the weather isn't always sunny and warm, I'd say I work out inside about 80% of the time. I'd much rather work out outside though.

Definitely like the indoors, hands down. I hate working out outside! When I'm inside, not only do I not have to worry about cars/other people, I can hop on the machine right in front of the fan and read a magazine! :-D

Yoga on the beach. I can't recommend it enough.

I don't mind the gym atmosphere but I LOVE being outside when the weather is nice, even if it's just going for a walk.

Outdoors with friends, but running by myself...as much as I love it, there are just too many creepy guys out there. I've had cars slow down and yell at me; I also had someone try to grab my arm when I was on my bike. These are few and far between, but enough to make myself overly cautious. If I do walk/run outside, I try to go during lunchtime or early evening, when there are a ton of people around.

Easy. Outdoors - hiking, biking, swimming, playing ball, running with the dog -- for everything EXCEPT yoga. Unlike most folks, I hate outdoor yoga. I think I get self conscious about people walking by while I'm twisted in rather compromising positions. I also have a much harder time with balance positions, and I want a mirror to check my practice.

Depends on the weather. If the weather is perfect, then outdoors for sure.

Indoors, it's too hot/cold/windy/rainy outdoors most of the year. I like some outdoors sports, but all of them are seasonal. But the outdoors yoga sounds intriguing, becoming brina!

Indoors, because I live in a heavily populated area and don't enjoy having random men watch me bounce while I run. Also, half the year is swelteringly hot, half the year is snow, so...

Both. I do a lot of my working out indoors, only because I use the elliptical for most of my cardio and I like to watch TV while I'm on it. But when I want to run, I prefer to run outside. And I love to take long bike rides outside on the bike trails...it's a lot more fun than biking on the stationary bike.

I love being outdoors! I mostly run, but I also love being able to play soccer and tennis or go swimming in the sunshine.

out. That's my dilema right now. I'm SO burnt out on the gym, but it's starting to get hot here so I won't be able to work out outdoors soon. I need to get together a group of videos and stuff that I can do inside

I'd say inside mostly because I love the freedom of having a home gym -- no traveling and I can workout at crazy hours with no problem

Outdoor - definitely. It's too stuffy to run on treadmill inside the Gym now.

I prefer to workout outside and "green" my workout as much as possible. No machines, and no driving to my workout location. I lived in Miami for a few years and worked out outside but it took some training of my body to get acclimated to the crazy summer and heat. It is possible though.
