Easy Ways to Get 5 Grams of Fiber

Are you getting enough fiber each day? The recommended daily quota of fiber for women is 25 to 30 grams, not only to keep the body regular, but also to help lower cholesterol and to prevent heart disease and certain cancers. If you're having a hard time eating enough fiber — or you have no idea how much you're getting — include one of these fiber-filled foods in your diet for an extra five grams each day.

  • One cup fresh raspberries: 8 grams
  • Half of an avocado: 6.7 grams
  • One Ginger Snap Larabar: 6 grams
  • One large sweet potato: 5.9 grams
  • Nine broccoli florets: 5.5 grams
  • Medium apple with the skin (4.4 grams) with one tablespoon all-natural peanut butter (1 gram): 5.4 grams
  • Medium pear with the skin: 5.1 grams
  • One cup of Barbara's Bakery Shredded Oats: 5 grams
  • 15 almonds (2.1 grams) with two medium figs (2.9 grams): 5 grams
  • Two tablespoons of flaxseeds sprinkled on your cereal or salad: 5 grams
  • 1/4 cup dried blueberries: 5 grams

half a cup of FiberOne has 14 grams of fiber and with half a cup of milk it's only a total of 100 calories. I've switched from my high fiber oatmeal to this. I have to maintain a high-fiber diet, but a plus side is for every 1 gram of fiber you take in, it's 7 calories you don't. Hooray!

I've found that meeting my fiber needs via fruit, veggies, nuts and flax seed really help keep me full throughout the day. My stomach no longer growls and bugs me between meals/snacks and my blood sugar levels don't spike anymore either!

I've really increased my fiber intake, and I am so proud of myself! I think the choice of stock photo is kinda funny - I think this particular photo is supposed to be an illustration of Eve offering the fruit of the tree of Knowledge of Good and Bad to Adam (because her bare shoulders make her look naked). But apples have fiber, so it does fit!

these are really good and easy ways to add fiber into your diet. i know that for myself i don't like to have to jump through hoops to get nutrients, and these are easy. i always recommend that people carry and apple with them, and this is just another example on why it's a good idea.

I recently bought Silk Soymilk Plus Fiber (5 grams/8 oz serving) to increase my family's fiber intake. It tastes good.
