Here's Exactly How Much You Should Be Exercising If You Sit at a Desk All Day, Says Science

Is Exercise a Pleasure or Chore?

For some people, exercise is an enjoyable part of the day. It relieves stress, and provides a break from work or much-needed time alone. Others have to drag themselves to the gym, and count the minutes until their workout is over. How do you feel about your workouts?

I hate going to the gym, but once I actually get there I enjoy my workout. Sometimes it just takes me a while to get over the roadblock in my mind.

most of thie time it is a little bit of both. i think it mostly depends on what kind of excersing it is. ilike any kind of strength training, pilates, or stretching, but i HATE running of any sort!

boy I wish I was one of the people that say it's a pleasure. So many injuries and problems I have always make it a chore.

I agree with insanitypepper! I was going to say the same thing. It is a CHORE which I have to work into my life and is often awkward to do so but I feel great afterwards/sometimes during. I go running around my local wooded area/parks and it's really nice. It's difficult to find the time with unpredictable weather and local youths hanging around though !!

It's a chore before, and a pleasure after.

It is SUCH a total and absolute pleasure, I cannot imagine my day without being active- I workout (hate this word, being active doesn't feel like work) around 2hrs 5days a week, and will gladly substitute exercise for other social activities...but to make it worth my while, the activities I do have to really really really push me, I couldn't do it in a totally casual way- the only disadvantage is that I hate ripped bodies so I have to eat a hefty amount to keep me active soft (hahaha, my own term for the opposite of ripped/ lean, but not fat) and it can be a little lonely as not many people like or want to put in that much time exercising :(

Total chore for me, I have to admit! I do enjoy the feeling of getting OFF the treadmill and the post-exercise endorphin kick almost makes it worthwhile. But I'd still way rather be curled up with a book. Which is a little embarrassing to admit on Fitsugar. :)

It's a chore until it's over. Then it was a pleasure!

fortunately i can say that i've never considered exercise and working out to be a chore. i love to go to the gym, and i think that it makes me a happier person.

For me, it's a pleasure. It's my "me time" and when I'm done, I feel like I've gotten a lot accomplished already that day. The only thing that makes it a chore is when I have to squeeze it in when I've got to work super early because I have to get up way early to do it.

I's both, but more of a chore than a joy. There are soooo many other things I need to do.

None of the above. It's a habit. To me, it's similar to brushing my teeth and showering. Admittedly, I do enjoy it, but's a habit more than anything else. It's part of my lifestyle.

Walk on the beach or at the lake=pleasure. StairMaster or treadmill=chore

Mostly a pleasure. But even if it feels like a chore some days, it's such a pleasure when I'm done!

Both... I've had great training days and really shitty ones. There are easy and relaxing 12 mi runs and then there are oh-god-has-it-really-only-been-20-minutes rides on the trainer. But ! I'm always glad when I do it.. mainly b/c I like to see the increase in my training graphs :)

I wonder if some people are just wired to be addicted to it, and to love it? Sure almost everyone likes the after- effect..... But some people are like screw going to happy hour and dinner, I'd rather run on the treadmill!!! I don't get it! I wish I could be a little bit more like that.
