Fit Calculator: Water Works

Do you sit and wonder to yourself, in your quiet moments alone "Am I drinking enough water?" If not, I'm here to tell you that it is a good question to ask and finding the answer couldn’t be easier. Check out FitSugar’s new water calculator Water Works. It’ll tell you how much water you should be drinking daily.

Hydration is important to good health and the majority of Americans are chronically under hydrated, meaning most of us are mildly dehydrated all of the time. That might not seem so bad but being mildly dehydrated can impair brain function – like making it hard to do basic math. Also, we are so under hydrated as a population, we experience dehydration as hunger pains – how confused have our bodies become?

Fit’s Tip: If your mouth feels dry and you're thirsty, you are already mildly dehydrated. I take my cues on hydration from competitive cyclists – Drink before you’re thirsty and avoid the catch up game with hydration.

I have a hard time drinking so much water. But sometimes specially if we go out to dinner I wake up so thirsty that I drink like 3 huge glasses in the middle of the night! I think sodium has a lot to do with hydration as well.

I drink so much water every day I'm afraid I'm going to drown myself. This medication I take has a side effect of dry mouth so I drink at least 12 glasses of water per day, and usually a lot more.

Oh yeah, the link works now. Cool. My dad thinks drinking coffee is just like drinking water - "it's made with water," he says.

I hear drinking up to two glasses water prior to working out is so good for your muscles since they'll be working hard. I like to drink some water before I begin my workout. Muscles seem to like it and the more water you drink, even during a workout, the better!

I tried to do the calculation, but it said it wasn't found.

I've always been told to drink lots of water the day before a big marathon or race. It actually helps! Prevention is better than dehydration. ______________________________________________ I must say, adolescence is one hell of a ride!
