Fit Gift Guide: The Camper

My Dad taught me the joys of camping. This holiday season, I decided to celebrate the outdoorsy side of him with presents to help him out when he is roughing it in the woods. I think these gifts would be great for any camper in your life, from the seasoned camper to the newbie.

  • Coleman 2-Burner Stove: If you need to boil some pasta or beans while camping, this two-burner stove will cook your food fast so you can spend more time exploring.
  • Coleman Camping Coffeemaker: There's no reason you should go without your morning cup of coffee just because you're in the woods. This coffeemaker can make up to 10 cups of coffee, and can also be used to make hot chocolate, tea, or instant soup. The only snag is you need to use it with the camp stove.
  • Petzl Tikka LED Headlamp: A headlamp is a must so you can see at night and have both hands free. It weighs less than three ounces, requires only three AAA batteries (that are included), and lasts for 120 hours. The lamp body can be tilted to direct the light where you need it.

Hmm. I like all of these ideas. I was hoping to find something for my dad, but he and I already own all of these (or something similar) from all our camping trips..

the headlamp surely is useful. i remember the dark nights where i looked for something in our baggage - terrible, i always had to put the flashlight in my mouth :( the other two ideas are, well, not outdoor, but for campers, who just stay somewhere for a longer time (and have a car!). i think a campsugar would be great, too!

I third the idea that melizzle proposes, campsugar . . . There really should be a Sugar that is dedicated to living outdoors!Several years ago I got my dad a Petzl Zipka headlamp (similar to the Tikka) and he LOVES it. He uses it when he BBQs so that the light goes onto the grill, and is not blocked by the lid.

I am totally down for campsugar! Syako, I recommend going to REI.com and checking out their tents. Even if you don't get one from there they have really, really good user reviews on all their equipment. The tents all have a ton of honest reviews. I get all my outdoorsy stuff at REI and they have a great return policy. I hear they are having a sale coming up soon (end of November) so you might wanna wait a little if you do decide to order from them!

Fit - could you do a review of tents? I looked through archives and couldn't find one. I'm looking to get a tent (perhaps as a present) and wanted to know what are good ones at different price points. Thanks!

That burner is awesome! I'm thinking it could also be a good gift for tailgaters! :P
