Fit Tip: Do the First Ten Without Music

Today when I was at the gym I realized that I had my iPod Shuffle, but forgot my earphones. Ugh, I hate when that happens. Luckily for me, my pal DearSugar was on her way to our gym so I called her and asked if she would bring me my headphones from the office. The problem was that she was about 15 minutes behind me and I had to make it without music for the first 15 minutes on the treadmill.

I made it through, but it was tough. As soon as I was able to put on my headphones and run to some upbeat music I was completely invigorated, which gave me a bit of a second wind and helped me push through for the last 20 minutes of my run. Turns out, my entire run went by super fast. Tomorrow at the gym, I am going to try to motivate myself based on the same principle, but keep focused on distance (not time). For example, once I have run two miles then I can pump up the jams for the final two miles. If you think this could motivate you then try it out and let me know what you think.
