Fresh Fruit in Salad

Do You Add Fresh Fruit to Your Salad?

Salads can be yummy when made with a variety of veggies like carrots, grape tomatoes, and yellow peppers, but to me, they're so much more exciting when they're tossed with juicy pieces of fresh fruit. Sliced apples and pears, grapes, strawberries, and oranges are some of my favorites. When I add bites of fruit, it adds so much flavor to the salad that I can use less dressing, or even skip out entirely. Tell me . . .

Oh gawd no! I never like sweet anything when I am eating a meal. I know a lot of people might think I have an undeveloped palate but it just grosses me out. That is like me eating jellybeans with chili or meatloaf. Yuck to fruit in salad!

That said, my ideas on 'sweet' and 'savoury' aren't quite right - bell peppers count as savoury to me, for example.

I NEVER mix 'sweet' and 'savoury', the idea makes me cringe. No chocolate spread on toast, and fruit is pretty much on it's own.

No way. Fruit on actual food is one of my biggest pet peeves ! Some people even eat fruits with like their meat and stuff.. CRAZY !

I know that it's a healthy thing to do, but I just can't wrap my tastebuds around savory salad ingredients with the sweetness of fruit. I just prefer to eat them seperately.

I like to add strawberries when I'm doing a honey dijon type dressing, mandarin oranges for an asian dressing, and blueberries with a vinaigrette.

If it's in my fridge, there's a pretty good chance it will go into my salad for lunch.

My salad doesn't feel complete without some apple or pear slices. Grapes are also good.

Yes, salad with fruit is my favorite! Right now, I'm into spinach with sliced strawberries and balsamic vinaigrette.

Grapefruit, red and/or yellow peppers (I prefer to cook with onions), carmelized onions, salad and bacon with vinegar dressing (dijon mustard, balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper) is soo good and easy to make. Cut the grapefruit in half and remove the grapfruit with a spoon as though you are eating it by itself toss in the salad and squeeze some of the juice into the dressing. My boyfriend is french, he taught me this recipe.

Favorite summer salad: Spinach salad with blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, mandarins and candied pecans with poppy seed dressing. AMAZING!

My favorite is to use sliced strawberries but I've also enjoyed salads with mandarin oranges as well.I've often wondered about putting blueberries too, I might try that the next time we have some.
