Smart Blonde - You are a great friend to teach your friend how to pick up her kid - I did that with all my Pilates clients that were new moms, or new grandma's for that matter. I love that you are spreading the good word of the "squat". Right ON!!!!

Lifting the extra "weights" does work! I don't have kids of my own, but I recently spent time with a friend of mine who I don't get to see very much. Said friend has a 1.5-year-old. When she took off her jacket, she was wearing a t-shirt underneath and her upper body looked really good. I asked her if she'd been working out, because her arms looked so nice, and she said, "Nah, I've just been carrying Kid around." (Then I taught her how to do squats properly, so not only will she get some good glute and hamstring work while picking up her daughter, but she'll take the stress off her lower back while lifting.)

Everybody use to ask me why my arms were so toned after my first child. I did'nt realize that lifting a child could be considered exercise! After 4 kids I definetly can say it works!!!

I'm not sure how I feel about using your children as workout equipment, lol. Actually it's kind of funny. Whatever works I guess. ^Though I agree with the above poster! Their reg. workouts and diet I'm sure has a lot to do with looking that good!

you forgot to mention the personal trainers, cooks and what have you. takes more than just carrying around babies to look like that. but sure, we all have to start somewhere.
