Get the Bod: Jennifer Lopez Gets Suspended

I'm always looking for new ways to make the strength training moves I do at home more challenging, and it looks like Jennifer Lopez found the perfect piece of equipment. With her trainer, Gunnar Peterson, she uses a TRZ Suspension Trainer ($170), which weighs less than two pounds. All you do is attach it to a door, tree branch, swing set, or any other sturdy point such as a pull-up bar. Jennifer uses it to target her upper body, lower body, back, and abs.  To hear more about the benefits of suspension training and to see a video of the TRX Suspension Trainer in action

. Suspension training allows you to use your own body weight to create resistance, and many of the moves involve your torso, so it allows you to build amazing core strength. I've tried a TRX class before, and it was definitely a tough and sweaty workout, so if you have the dough, you can spring for a TRX Kit. It includes a DVD so you can learn all the moves and do a routine at home. Check out the video below to see all the different ways the TRX Suspension Trainer can be used.

This thing really scares me. I can't get past the thought that if it malfunctions, a person will plummet to the floor and likely break all ten fingers and a few teeth.

Oh! I saw some of these in a gym I went to on a free day. I wondered what they were! I thought it was for when you got so fed up of your workout you... :p

I'm guessing that you use the door option, you might want to make sure that it is locked.

That looks like fun! I bet it's a killer workout as well. If it doesn't take up too much space, I might have to look into getting one of those for my personal gym.

Just want to mention to anyone that may want to buy one of these, if you search around there are versions of this that other companies (including the original company that come up with this) make and sell it at a much cheaper price - especially since TRX has since raised the price of theirs and also since people want to stretch what money they have. I believe go fit is one of the companies that makes a version of it. Anyway to save money.

My mom (who is a personal trainer) uses this with some of her clients. I've tried it before, and let me tell you...the TRX will target your back and chest like nothing else can. It's absolutely amazing!
