Have You Ever Ended a Workout Early?

I'm one of those people who look forward to my workouts, but sometimes it's tough to motivate when I'm tired, sore, or have things on my mind. If I push myself to exercise anyway, after the workout I'm usually glad I didn't skip out. A few times though, I've put in the effort but just wasn't feeling it, so I ended my workout early. Has this ever happened to you?

It's an extremely RARE occasion that I cut a work out short... but what might seem like I am cutting a work out short to me, probably isn't cutting a work out short for others because I work out for almost 2 hours every day!

If you're hurt or actually sick, it's time to stop. Sometimes I even stop early because I'm really distracted or I just don't feel like it. I live an active lifestyle and I enjoy exercise, so I don't want to make it a chore.

Yes I have a couple times when I felt super nauseous and began seeing spots in front of me before fainting. So yeah, I think in those situations it's a good idea to stop!

I have because I suck. LOL. Seriously, I would start to feel sick or cranky.

If I'm in a bad mood. If I'm grouchy I'm far from motivated and keep frustrating myself so I usually leave it until I'm feeling productive.

No. However, if I'm physically uncomfortable (like from menstrual cramps), I would lower my intensity, and bring it down a notch, but I will NOT end my session early. One time, I jogged for miles hunched over at the hips (nursing deep menstrual cramps). That was crazy of me. My form was AWFUL. I could have wrecked my back, but hey, I finished my workout. :)

I've only ended my workout early once...I got dressed up to go running in -20 weather and after going about 1/2 mile, the cold air was too much for me. I ended up going back in and I put some extra layers on and went for a nice walk instead.

I've quit a few times when I've been really, really tired.

Unless I'm absolutely dying, I feel too guilty to let myself stop early! It's kind of sad - I know I've probably made myself sicker or more injured by not throwing in the towel at times, but I just can't!

If I get a really bad cramp while running I'll stop. Usually I can just switch to a walk for a while and pay attention to my breathing and it will go away, but if it doesn't I just have to stop. There's also been a couple times I'll get off the treadmill b/c I just got bored. I like taking classes at the gym b/c I have too much pride to walk out. :) I will stick with the class to the point of exhaustion b/c I don't want others to think I'm a quitter!

I have ended my 4+ hour long exercise sessions early because of one of the following reasons: -I passed out/or felt faint -I got a migraine and once I take my meds I cannot safely function -my legs gave out -the gym closed -it was too late to be vigorously exercise inside my apartment without disturbing my neighbors -I got so nauseated that I was going to hurl so I had to stop I don't stop because I just don't feel like continuing - if I stop I will feel like a quitter and feel really crappy. So I keep going until my body forces me to stop - and I try to continue past that point just in case the physical ailment was triggered by a psychological desire to stop a workout.

The only time I really recall ever ending a workout earlier than I intended is when I had been pushing myself too hard to begin with and I start to feel light-headed or like I'm going to be sick.

I normally have 2 plans for the day when I drive to the Y's for workout.- A min workout set - usually it is the easier plan and something that I know I can do for sure.- A max workout set - bonus set when I feel strong and energetic.I achieve my min set everyday - I mean if I am too tired, I will just take a day off and skip going to the gym at all. But, if I go, I will at least have my min set done.

Sometimes I feel awesome before a workout, but when I really get into it, I can't stay awake.Yeah.. Weird.. I have the anemia thing still going on. Some days are worse than others.

If I'm feeling sick or injured, yes.If I'm getting tired/ cranky then I tell myself to HTFU and finish the workout.I visualized the finish line at IMCOZ :)

One time I thought I was going to be sick in the gym. I then realized I probably should have gotten more sleep and skipped the day! I went home early. Not often though.

I sometimes cut out early if I am feeling really exhausted from lack of sleep or my period. If I push myself too hard when my body is saying no - I find that it will affect my workouts the rest of the week. I'd rather cut out early one day, than push myself through it to the point that I end up completely skipping or cutting short workouts the rest of the week.

Pain or illness are enough to induce me to end one early. Gotta listen to your body!
