Are Your Thighs Burning? They Are Now

Have You Ever Lied About How Fast You Can Run?

After watching the track and field events of the Olympics, I am even more inspired to increase my speed. I've heard of people lying about how much they eat, lying about their weight, and lying about what size clothes they wear, but what about speed? Tell me . . .

i always tell people i'm slow, so they're not too shocked when they run with me

And P.S. the girl in the picture is grossly skinny.

My knees don't allow me to run, so I don't know how fast I run. One of my friends lies though, because no one else runs with her. We've gone to the gym together though, and I see her speed... She is one of those people that always needs to one-up you.

I was dating a tri-athelete! I told him I ran about a 45 min - 50 min 10 km...which was true...like a year ago! Luckily we broke up before I ever went on a run with him (NO WAY!)...I run closer to a 55 minute 10 km now.

Hee to the first post - just imagined me tearing down the road with my sofa chasing me, barking! Actually, I swear that was once a TV advert... ^_^

I don't see the point of lying about it. I run how I run, and that's that.

I wish I ran a sub-9 minute mile, but the reality is that I don't. Why lie about it?

i don't know how fast i run - so i can't said that i've ever fibbed about it. i may at one point known how fast my mile was - but not anymore since i don't time myself at all.

I did, but I can explain! The starbucks worker that was making my latte kept on trying to make small talk while all I wanted was my coffee. I don't remember what I said exactly when he asked how many miles I ran, but it wasn't so far off from my usual milege and it shut him up.

I don't really understand the point either. Clothing sizes and weight can be covered up but that person is going to know how fast you run if you go together!

I actually have. I don't run, I jog...so instead of saying I jog 15 min miles, I've said that I can do 10 min. I'm very slow, my endurance isn't so great...but at least I try!!

i've only lied when i tell people that i'm slower then i actually am so i don't feel pressure to be faster lol

Hate running. I am a swimmer and the only way I can/will run is with a couch barking at me from behind, which is a pity because I can go at a pretty good clip. :) I have a plethora of respect for runners though.
