I lost 60 lbs with Atkins and I am still a happy follower, I eat grains, veggies, and lots of delicious meals, I indulge once in a while with stupid carbs, but I don't miss them at all, I am not a fan of sugar and eat I many good carbs. Atkins really works and I am a living example of this. My skin glows, my body rocks and I regained my self esteem

I've tried both the Atkins and South Beach. I did well on both of them, but it wasn't something that I could do for the rest of my life. However, once I went off the diet, I think it made me a lot more addicted to carbs.

I do low carb and its how you do it. I've lost 50 lbs and kept it off for almost 3 years. I eat healthy, veggies, fruit, fish, chicken ect. The only thing I don't eat is sugar, rice & white flour. Dreamfields Pasta makes a wonderful low carb HEALTHY pasta that is good for anyones diet. I don't feel like I'm missing anything. If you tried the diet and limited yourself to less than 10 carbs then you were doing it wrong and probably starving your body causing the side effects. You can have carbs but in MODERATION. Just like with any diet you are on, moderation is key.

No way you'll caught me doing Atkins. Cutting out a nutrient just like that seems insane to me. If you eat a bit of bread you'll be alright, if you eat the whole loaf you'll be fat. Mediterranian diet, that's the good one.

I eat carbs, but not as much as protein and I only eat good carbs, from whole grains and potatoes.

Hey, I live near DC saraebel, I am ale to find whole wheat, oraganic pasta and breads, almost everything organic, and most of it whole wheat. have you tried whole foods or trader joes? Good luck! I try and choose to eat whole wheat, but i imagine it feels way different when you are only allowed to eat it. ♥

for medical reasons i'm on a strict no processed carbs diet. i've been doing it for about 3 1/2 years and it is very tough. i did no dairy for 2 years thinking that was the problem and it was way easier than the no processed carbs. once you leave CA it's so hard to find whole wheat anything. it's all white bread, pasta, rice, etc.

does anyone else REALLY love that little picture of winnie the pooh with his honey pot that say "i love carbs" ha ha ha, that's so the truth! ha ha. as much as I can I opt for whole grain or whole wheat, but I couldn't do without carbs!

well maybe i would dop it cos i do wana lose some weight, however it wont work in the long run cos u have to eat carbvs some day!? thats the thing if it wont work forever why do it in the first place? and anyway carbs are good for u its not bread that makes you fat, its the spreads and other fatty fillings you put on them, have a slice not a loaf and you will be fineee hehe with excercise of course

i'm about to start the south beach diet next week and i'm a wee bit nervous, because i am a total carb freak. however, i do love whole grains, so it wouldn't be a bad thing to cut out all the overprocessed white carbs, right? i'm trying to get myself psyched and to think of it as getting healthy and improving my cardiovascular health, but i'm still nervous. also, i can't cook and that may pose a problem. we'll see.

I adore carbs and I hate meat. Any kind of diet like that would make me feel miserable and deprived. I'm an old-fashioned calorie counter. It works for me and I feel healthy and satisfied.

i remember when Atkins was THE thing to do and in my yoga classes you could always tell who was on it because when they were sweating they smelled like meat! no joke. it was sick. the only type of monitoring i do is my calories and making sure i get 5-7 fruits and veggie servings a day while moderately exercising. that alone helped me lose 20 pounds. no diet pills or wackjob diets. just good ole exercise and good eating habits!

I'm not purposefully avoiding carbs, but I try to eat as healthy as possible and that just doesn't include the eating of a lot of carbs for me. Its mostly fruit, veggies and lean protein.

my body's all backwards. it burns fat quickly and fast-tracks carbs to fat, so i have to eat carbs in moderation. i don't eat any processed foods, and keep rice, pastas, and breads to a minimum, and only if whole-grained. no refined sugars either, and severe limits on sugar in general. i wind up spending more money for fresh meats, fruits and veggies, but the difference it made for my body and energy levels has been enormous. atkins often gets a bad rap because everyone only focuses on the first phase of the diet, induction, and too many people do it completely wrong by thinking it's a good thing to eat a pound of bacon as a meal. the other three phases have you slowly introducing more carbs until you find your sustainable level. it's all in the book....
