6 Ways to Make Chinese New Year a Healthy Celebration

Healthy Holiday Tip: Start a Healthy Tradition

The time spent after eating our huge Thanksgiving meals usually consists of plopping down in front of the TV and/or heading out to the movies. Now I don't have anything against TV or going to the movies, but this Thanksgiving try to start a healthy tradition.

Gather the troops for a fun game of flag football, bike ride, hike, or even just a walk through the neighborhood to see which of your over-zealous neighbors have started decorating for Christmas already.

It's never too late to start your own tradition and next year your family may even look forward to actually playing a game of football rather than watching one on TV.

Do you have any healthy or active Thanksgiving traditions? If so, share them below.

a bunch of my coworkers gather every friday after thanksgiving to play some "turkey bowl" football, complete with a trophy for the MVP player. this helps us get in the active spirit after gorging ourselves at thanksgiving.

My dad's side of the family meets at the local state park, grill up breakfast and then we go for a hike. They've done it since before I was born and it's my favorite family tradition. It makes thanksgiving my favorite holiday!

Well we don't have thanksgiving here but I would have done like I do for Christmas: start the day with a good hard run then enjoy the day! I also like going out for a walk after dinner if we feel like it.

My family was always couch-potatoes on Thanksgiving, but once I started getting into running, I started my own tradition of going running in the morning before helping my mom prep the meal.

After placing the turkey in the oven, my family, guests and the dog would head to a hiking destination. Upon our return, the house was permeated with turkey aroma.

My family was never super-active, but every year my mom makes the most amazing fruit salad with a whole bunch of fresh fruit. So good! I usually eat that in the morning and then save myslef for turkey and pie later!

Sadly we were couch potatoes and football watchers when I was growing up. This year my hubby and I are hosting our first Thanksgiving and after dinner we are making everyone get up and play some games on the Wii I bought my husband for his birthday last week! Nothing like a little boxing after the Turkey! ;)

bowling after! It's not really physical but it beats the couch!

Growing up, we took a hike every year. Not sure how the turkey got cooked though.
