How Do You Keep Track of Your Workouts?

Time and time again, I've mentioned the importance of keeping track of your workout and your diet, especially now that being organized has been found to be a component of lasting weight loss. So I am curious what method you use for doing so...

I use Google Calendar with i have synced up via my Palm Pilot. So I can just update it on the go or at my computer. I don't seem to do well with keeping a food diary even though most of the foods I eat are healthy. I get so much time taken out of my day adding custom foods to calorie-count website.

I use extrapounds.com. I like it cause it's like a healthy diary. And you can read other people's for inspiration. When I'm not feeling in the mood to work out, I just go on there, read people's comments, or my past comments, and then I'm ready to go!

I use Spark People for food and exercise, and the running log at Cool Running to track mileage and my pace for the Couch to 5k. It's been neat to track my pace to see how I've improved!

Sparkpeople.com! It's awesome. And I track my workouts on the nike+ipod website, too.

I use myfooddiary.com which has always worked for me. Its 9 bucks a month but well worth it. Every time I have strayed from it I have ended up eating way more and gaining weight. Now at least I am way more aware of how much I eat and how much I workout. You have to workout to eat and vice versa. I don't want to have to record what I eat for the rest of my life but I also want to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Sigh.

I just seem to forget to do it. I mean, the days just fly by. It's frustrating because on sunday I'll tell myself to do it the rest of the week, but before I know it, it's thrusday!

Since I started running about 6 weeks ago, I use the training log on runnersworld.com. You put in information about the run and can even plot your route using the map and enter your time. It will calculate milage and will chart what you have done. Each different type of run is color coded. Like, the easy run is light green, a tempo run is pink. My favorite was that I just ran my first race and when I entered that in, the color on the chart was red. It sticks out so much and it makes me feel good that I did it!I am trying to get up a blog as a kind of on-line journal to track my running because I eventually want to run a marathon - but for that I have a long way to go.

well you can make a custom food item. Plus, perhaps you aren't using the browse function? Sometimes it's easier to browse and find than typing it in the search box.

Fitday didn't have most of the foods I ate today :( I don't think I'm a fan of the site

I give myself a gold star on the calendar for each workout I do over 30 minutes. If I do an hour or more of hard labor like the serious yard work I was doing all spring and summer I give myself a different colored star. I keep track of what I eat in a notebook. I keep track of my weights (lifted) in my head.

I use different colors on Google Calendar to show exercising from regular day to day activities. I also keep a journal of my day with questions I answer and three stickers. The questions are "What are you GLAD you ate today?, What do you want to forget you ate today?, What did you drink today?, What do you want to forget you drank today?, What did your workout include?, and What was your overall stress level/mood today?". I also have blue stars for drinking water, red for exercising, and green for eating well. This has really helped me realize the ups and downs in my life and how to conquer those downs in ways that don't take away from my body and my health. I love seeing loads of stickers in my book. Unfortunately, I didn't put any stickers yesterday. It was a BAD day :PI use different colors on Google Calendar to show exercising from regular day to day activities. Last x-mas my wife gave me a wall calendar with the Pilobolus dance troupe on it. I mark my workouts/ashtanga practices/other physical activities on the days to track my workouts. The pictures of the dancers in poses really inspires me to get fit.

Sparkpeople.com mainly, but I think I am going to start keeping some kind of journal.

I use Sparkpeople.com and excel worksheets - I like to keep track of weights, and bump it up every week or so. Just because I want lean muscle (as opposed to bulking up) doesn't mean I shouldn't up the weights as my strength increases! I find that otherwise, I don't remember how much weight I used the last time, and I'm not getting the most out of my workouts.

I print out a custom and color coded excel spread sheet I made...I like having it printed out and being able to glance at my accomplishments.

i only keep track of my running to see how many miles i ran in a month to compare and contrast. When i was using the nike pedometer with my nano, i used the nike website which is incredible! however, since i lost the sensor, i went back to using an excel sheet. i just plug in how far i ran, how long it took me, then i use a formula to calculate my pace. i do that for a month then make a little chart (well have excel create it for me) so i can see my improvement through out the month and compare it to previous months. excel is really amazing! i use it for my budget too. it is so simple and there is a lot less form filling in than on those websites.
