6 Things to Do Every Day For a Healthier Lifestyle

Between eating a balanced and nutritious diet, engaging in daily exercise, and seeking a centered mind, living a healthy lifestyle is much easier said than done. But that doesn't mean it's completely unattainable — there are plenty of small things you can do throughout the day to ensure you're putting your physical and mental well-being first. From a relaxing yoga session to take the edge off to prioritizing nutrient-dense food, these six habits can help you feel energized and totally renewed.

Eat fruit instead of sugar

If you're yearning for something sugary, reach for fresh fruits instead. Apples, bananas, and berries can still give you something sweet to chew on but with plenty of fiber, nutrients, and antioxidants.

Take a power nap

Getting a good night's sleep — eight hours is recommended — can help ensure you're at peak physical and mental performance. If you're feeling sluggish, taking a quick nap can re-energize you for the rest of the day.

Eat regularly

Keeping a regimented eating schedule may help you plan, prepare, and maintain a healthy diet. Starting the day with breakfast each morning can help start your metabolism and may even help you make better choices throughout the day, like avoiding the vending machine.

Eat foods with high nutrient density

In addition to eating consistently throughout the day, make sure each meal and snack are nutrient dense. Nutrient-dense foods can include anything from lean meats and vegetables to nuts and nonfat yogurt [1] that contains protein and calcium.

Do yoga

Clear your mind with some light yoga stretches. Focus on breathing and strengthening your core to ease your thoughts and help you relax.

Drink water

Sometimes our bodies have trouble differentiating between dehydration and hunger. Staying hydrated throughout the day can help prevent fatigue and help rid your body of toxins.
