How to Make Sports Bras Last Longer

A Time-Saving Trick That Will Help Sports Bras Last Longer

Whether the warmer weather has inspired more workouts or the thought of sporting a Summer bikini, a fit girl goes through a ton of sport bras. It's such a waste to wash them in the washing machine after each workout, and besides — who has time for that?

Since most of us only have a handful of sports bras we love, here's a quick tip for making sure you have a clean, dry bra for tomorrow: bring it into the shower with you after your workout. Keep a little container of laundry detergent on the shelf so you can hand wash it quickly, and then let it dry over the shower rod. Besides not having to worry about remembering to do a whole load of laundry, hand washing wicking clothes helps to maintain the integrity of the fabric, which will help your sports bras last longer. This is especially great to do when you're on vacation and don't have access to a washing machine.

mrs favre, that is what I thought of too, that is if you need to wash them every day. Just put it in the sink when you are in the shower to soak and than rinse when you get out.

love this tip. always run out of sports bras waiting for the next run to the laundry mat.

I've always done this! I don't wash any of my sports bras in the washer since I'm worried it'll wear out quicker, so I just wash it along with showering after a workout.

I think it's a pretty good idea in theory, but I'd probably pass on it. I have about 8 or 9 sports bras and I do laundry often enough that finding clean ones isn't really a problem for me.

While I think this is a good idea, I'm going to pass on this one. Personally, I have a very full routine when I'm in the shower (I'll keep the details to myself, as I think it's TMI). I don't want to add hand-washing laundry to the list. That would be too much, even for me. Besides, I don't like to use my shower door frame to dry clothes, especially bras. To me, that's unsightly.

Wow!! GREAT idea, can't believe it never occurred to me... I always have a laundry full of workout clothes and sometimes when I forget to do it, I can't work out the next day! This is awesome!

Now, if only could find a sports bra that fastened like a normal bra. Why is it so hard? Great tip, but be sure to rinse out the fabric really well. Otherwise, you'll be in for a rash the next time you work out. :)

This is really clever! The sports bras I have to buy are not cheap (I don't fit into most sports bras) and I bet this will help them last longer. It couldn't hurt, in any event.

I soak mine in the sink in Woolite while I'm in the shower then hang it when I'm finished

huh, that's a good idea. This way I can buy at least one good sports bra and not have to wash it every day.
