How Many Minutes a Week Do You Exercise?

Exercising regularly is the cheapest way that we can keep ourselves healthy and prevent disease. Each week it's recommended that adults get at least 150 minutes (two and a half hours) of moderate activity or 75 minutes (one hour and 15 minutes) of vigorous activity — or some combination of the two. Does your routine fit the bill? Tell me . . .

Sparkle... I have a job and life commitments. I'm an attorney and my workload can get pretty heavy. I don't have kids, though, so I have more free time in that regard. I do make time to go on dates with my husband and dinners with friends. I just work my Ironman training around that :)

15-20 hours per week!! I couldn't do that - even if I was going to run a marathon. I have a job and life commitments!!

I tend to walk everywhere and I go running at LEAST 3 days out of the week for around half an hour. I guess I'm good.

I hit the gym for three hours or so a week, and try to work out for at least 20 minutes every other day. Thats around 5 hours a week. On top of my waitressing job where I run around like a lunatic, I think I do rather well. :)

Runnigesq and dollyd - I get 15-20 hours in a week but not all of the workouts are high intensity or super demanding. Plus I spread it out throughout the day. I figure I only get about 5-7 hours of intense workout - the kind that really gets my heartbeat racing, sweating profusely, think I may fall over workout. The rest of the hours are moderate levels of intensity so that I don't wear myself out too completely.

I agree with runningesq. I run around 30 miles a week, a kickboxing class or tow, and some short weight lifting sessions a couple times a week, for a grand total of about 9/10 hours a week. And despite having at least 2 more resting hours than a lot of people here, I'm pretty fatigued most of the time. Wow! Kudos to you all for keeping active!

I'm REALLY surprised at all the people that workout 12+ hours a week... I'm currently training at 12-15 hrs/ week (will top out around 20) and I am exhuasted and always hungry... I kind of thought that those kind of weeks were unique to triathletes and distance runners.

3 hours a week is not much at all...I think almost everyone on Fitsugar probably works out more than that. I work out probably 15 hours a week or so. I mix it up between running, jumping rope, crosstraining on the elliptical, and biking. I guess I just really like being active.

Work out about an hour and a half in the morning and then do an hour of ashtanga yoga in the evening. I also do an hour of yoga over lunch severy times a week. I'd say I am getting between 15-20 hours a week.

Mine is so random I usually workout 5 days a week. 45 minutes on my treadmill, 40 to 35 high intesity arobics (I have severly different videos Most are 10 to 15 minute sesion, U know those 10 minute videos that have like 3 to 5 workouts on them. I combine 3 or 4 of those. Always different ones.) I also do 20 minuts weights, abs & toning, & then 10 minutes of a yoga & streaching sequence combined. Sadly though I am still over weight my eating is usually not the best I over do it a lot mostly from stess & anxity. I am 190 at 5'3. But of course I'm heathier than most of my family.

biarose , it's strange because I can't think of a more expensive way to stay healthy. Eating a healthy diet is not more expensive than eating an unhealthy one if you plan a bit. And noone can be healthy without excercise anyway - which fit sugar rightly points out at least once a week
