Overextending yourself anytime is a bad idea, but it's often exaggerated over the holidays. Feeling popular with friends and co-workers is great, but having back-to-back nights of indulgent parties does not serve any healthy goals. Learning when to refrain and when it's time to say no can be a tough gig for girls who love to say yes. Start saying yes to your health by avoiding these common pitfalls during the holidays.

Skipping workouts: Canceling a workout is easy when there are fun plans on the horizon. If you want to make time for a workout, you've got to make the commitment to yourself. Add a reminder in your office email, or jot it down in your planner. You wouldn't cancel on a friend, so don't cancel on yourself either. Just do whatever you have to do to make it work.

Scarfing festive foods: Head into holiday party season with the right mind-set: it's an opportunity to socialize and celebrate the year that was. You don't have to grab handfuls of canapés or chug champagne to take part in festivities. And we all know why boozing gracefully is one of the most important things to say yes to — especially during the workweek.

Not getting enough sleep: There's nothing worse than having to cancel fun holiday plans because you've been running on empty for too long. Listening to your body is key during this busy season, so be sure to get plenty of rest, especially when you start to feel under the weather. The sooner you take rest, the faster your body will recuperate.
