Jimmy John's Breakdown

Jimmy John's Breakdown

If you've ever experienced Jimmy John's, home of the world's greatest gourmet sandwich, you've probably enjoyed it. I even find myself craving a sandwich from there every once in a while...

Problem is those sandwiches may seem healthy with all their sprouts and lettuce spilling out, but they are however, quite the opposite. So, not to ruin your fun, but I've broken down the most popular Jimmy John's sandwiches for you in this breakdown.

Sandwich Calories Fat (g) Carbs (g) Sodium (mg)
#4 Turkey Tom 554 26 53 1341
#5 Billy Club 909 44 75 2326
#9 Italian Night Club 1017 57 76 2556
#12 Beach Club 838 41 76 1666
#13 Veggie Club 1141
70 78 1779

*All sandwiches are calculated with french bread as that is JJ's standard bread on all sandwiches.

Yikes! Can't live without a Jimmy John's fix but want to know how to make it healthier? Then

Customize your sammy. Each of the following items add the following amount of calories. Also, there is an option to "unwich" a sandwich and use a lettuce wrap rather than bread.

Item Calories
Slice of Provolone Cheese 121
Mayo 228
French Bread 250
7-Grain Wheat Bread 388
Lettuce Wrap 11

Fit's Tip: Personally I would get the Turkey Tom with no mayo, which would give me only 326 calories rather than the whopping 554. Go the distance and get a Turkey Tom Unwich and feel free to add on a cookie and/or chips.

So I went to Jimmy John's and ordered the veggie in a lettuce wrap - and the people stared at me like I was cah-razy. But the calories in their sandwiches are astounding!! On their website you can also find all their calories listed, and you can click a type of sandwich, and actively take off ingredients and the calorie ratio is adjusted online. Neato, huh? :)

I abso-love JJ! When I lived in IL, there were a lot of JJ's but now that I'm in TN, the closest one is in Nashville! Ugh, I need to get to JJ's. My fave is the #7 with cucumbers, provolone and avocado spread!

I don't understand how the veggie can have SEVENTY grams of fat. Don't they put the same amount of mayo and cheese on it as on the others?

i love JJ! they deliver right to my lazy rear in my office chair. and i've discovered they're happy to go light on the mayo if you don't want to leave it off altogether.

I love Jimmy Johns! The beach club is my favorite and I can definitely live w/o the mayo on it, since I'm not a big mayo fan anymore after thinking about how unhealthy it is. I can also go without the cheese on it, hopefully that will bring the calories way down!

The #11 is my favorite and I wouldn't care if it was 1000 calories I'd stille eat occasionally it's too good.

#13 is also my favorite--I had one the other day while I was writing the last paper of my college career. I did realize that with the provolone and the mayonaise, that it was an indulgence--but I didn't realize how much of one it was!

OMG. The #13 was my absolute fave. I can't believe it's the fattest, most caloric one!!! For shame!!!

The local Fox channel here (the one that plays american idol not fox news) has been doing a series on whether or not a person can look at food and tell if it is healthier (much like fit does with the breakdowns), and last night they had an apple harvest salad from i don't remember where now, which had like 1200 some calories and 72 grams of fat. the most 'healthy' (based on fat and calories) was a burger king double cheese burger on the tv segment, but then she had a table of food -smoked turkey samich from ABP, PBJ from PotBelly, chips and guac from Chipotle, double cheeseburger from BK, Apple Harvest salad from i don't know where and sirloin dinner with artichoke spinach stuff and another side from Boston Market....the full meal from Boston market had jsut under 500 calories and less fat than everything! blew my mind. I have decided not to eat out but on rare/special occassions. otherwise the whole dieting thing is impossible!

There's an awesome website that you can check calories/fat/protein and WW points on, that is similar to what is listed here. I almost always check it before I go out to eat, so that I have an idea of what is better for me to order. http://www.dwlz.com/restaurants.html They have the entire Jimmy John's menu on there, plus a ton of other major restaurants.
